Genetic issues - twice

Has anyone had different genetic issues in more than one pregnancy? We lost our first dc due to a genetic condition, and at my 12 week scan today I’ve been advised to have a tfmr for what appears to be a completely different condition.

I have spent the last few weeks arguing with DH about this pregnancy and nearly terminated to keep him happy. I am completely floored by this tfmr recommendation and feel devastated. I feel so alone because DH wasn’t onboard in the first place, but all this has done is make me realise how desperately I want one more baby, and how now its very unlikely to happen.

im really sorry for your loss. Sadly I think this can happen but in the cases I have seen most women did go on to have a genetically normal pregnancy. I hope you have support as this is such a hard time.

So sorry for your losses. Have you had karyotype testing? You both can have to find if you are carriers of genetics disorders.

You could try IVF with th PGT testing, that would help identify embryos with genetic problems.

The first issue was so rare it wasn’t diagnosed, so ivf to avoid any affected embryos wouldn’t work. The second issue we are waiting for the results of genetic testing following the tfmr. However, DH and I have both had a microarray genetic testing.

My gut tells me we’ve just been unlucky twice and this does happen to other people but DH is more logical and worried about the risks of trying again.

Ohh, then I'd recommend you to have all genetic testings when pregnant, such as the NIPT test at 11 weeks pregnant.

Its normal to feel scared, all infertility and miscarriages issues are scary and hard to find root cause sometimes. Hope you can get more information when you get the results. Good luck.
