Ectopic tube removal

I found out last week I had an ectopic and had to be operated on the same day to remove left tube. I have a one year old who I am still breastfeeding and plan on having one more baby. Consultant has given all clear to try with remaining tube said all looks healthy.

I have been feeling emotional today. Sad that my body is not the same as it was. Terrified of it happening again and losing my remaining tube. Wishing I caught it earlier to save my left tube.

Has anyone been through similar? How did you cope?

I went through the same but many years ago. I had no children at the time and was terrified I'd never have any. I became pregnant 9 months later and was so nervous until the scan showed the pregnancy was in the right place. I then fell pregnant again with no problems when DD1 was 10 mths. And again the pregnancy was where it should be.
Please don't blame yourself, even catching it earlier might not have saved your tube. I was only 5 weeks. There's no guarantees but if the doctors say your remaining tube is OK you should be fine. Sometimes they don't know why these things happen.

Im so sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic this year and lost my right tube, everything you've written is how I felt and still do now at times! Mine was my first pregnancy and I was devastated. I was monitored for 2 weeks and was around 7 wks when they saw on scan. I often think the same if they has scanned me a little earlier would they have saved my tube. The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust is amazing for support and information, as well as having a strong support network around you. Time really is a healer and it does get easier despite feeling like it never will x

Thank you. That is wonderful that you managed to conceive successfully after. These types of positive experiences are what’s giving me hope right now that we will manage baby number 2. Im 37 so feel like im running out of time to make it happen. But just need to focus on healing and positive thoughts now.
