Sepsis post miscarriage surgery - HSG?

Hi everyone. I've had two missed miscarriages, after the last we had surgery to remove the tissue and I felt fine afterwards, but the next day developed extreme pain, fever etc and was told I had sepsis. I was in hospital for 10 days. On investigation they shared with us that the surgeon had in fact missed the entire baby and only removed placental tissue (if you can, insist they scan you before they send you home post surgery - I wish I had known that was possible). We've been told it's possible the infection could have damaged my fallopian tubes. I can't find anyone else who has had a similar experience with 'retained product of conception' leading to sepsis, and am just looking for any advice on whether an HSG seems necessary in this case or whether it's fairly unlikely there'd be any damage. I had been pushing for an HSG but after hearing how painful they are, I'm not sure I can volunteer myself for that after the trauma we've had quite recently. I'm weighing up just trying and maybe wasting a year trying to conceive naturally when that may not be possible, versus getting all the facts now by having an HSG. Everyone keeps saying it's a personal choice but I feel like I don't have the facts I need about how common tubal damage is after a situation like this. Thank you xxx
