Drinking alcohol while ttc

I’m not a big drinker but I drink socially, for example I’m meeting some friends for lunch today and would like a glass or two of wine. However I had a MMC and didn’t know I was pregnant and drank, before 4 weeks, and apart of me can’t help but wonder if that contributed. After the MMC I have no idea what’s going on with my cycle and haven’t had a period. Have had unprotected sex so of course there is a minuscule chance I could be pregnant but I don’t think I’ve ovulated. I just wonder is it best to just abstain from alcohol but then equally I’m not sure if changing my lifestyle just makes me a bit obsessed with conceiving.

Hi, firstly sorry for your loss ♥
After my loss I blamed everything I did during my first pregnancy (which ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks) when in reality it was probably none of what i thought but I'll never know for sure.
I chose not to bother drinking when TTC unless it was my time of the month but don't even know if that's fool proof really and I became unbothered about drinking anyway 🤷‍♀️.
I found treat alcohol free drinks when out with friends and it just got easier and easier (it also saves money and the headaches 😂) I am no doctor but I know people who have continued drinking and smoking when TTC 🤷‍♀️ it really depends on you though.
Be kind to yourself and do what is right for you x

It didn't contribute, nothing you did caused your miscarriage. It's just a sad fact of life that a lot of pregnancies are never destined to be viable.

There is no robust evidence to suggest drinking alcohol in a moderate way has any effect on TTC. Obviously try to stick within nhs guidance for recommended amounts from a health perspective but there is no need to cut it out. It's a bit of a myth.

Wishing you well.
