Ectopic trauma - PID question

I’ve just been diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and it’s been an ordeal, I’ve had more blood tests in the last 3 weeks than I’ve had in my entire life prior.

A deep dive on the internet has caused only more anxiety/questions. I meet none of the risk factors however the main risk is showing as Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder, is this something I would have known I had/have? Everything is very vague online and I can sort of relate to some of the symptoms at some point in the years gone by but they’re very transferable to other illnesses/issues.

I also read an article a Dr wrote online which said ‘a healthy woman with a normal reproductive system would not have an ectopic pregnancy’ which has really, really knocked me. For the last few weeks I was counting on this just being ‘bad luck’ but the more I read, the more I think it’s something I have done/haven’t done.

Not sure what the pp is on!
Hopefully people more knowledgeable than me will be along soon, but I had an ectopic 21 years ago, had to have emergency surgery. I went on to have my son, no problem and didn't have PID or any other issues. I was just told it happens sometimes.

I had an ectopic 35 years ago, I was told it was something that just happened sometimes, and it was no ones fault. I fell pregnant with with my son 6 months after, just 1 month after we started trying again.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

To answer your question, I had an ectopic, I don’t have PID.

It’s not the only risk factor and also, sadly, sometimes shit things just happen. I hope you recover soon.

I fell pregnant first month of trying ever to conceive, sadly it was ectopic. I was only 27 and no risk factors including PID. I had to have a fallopian tube removed and have gone on to have a healthy pregnancy at 32 and currently pregnant again at 35 after 3 months of trying.

I spent a long time wondering why me and what it would mean but the truth is sometimes it really is just bad luck. Please stay away from Google and don't look to blame yourself. When you're ready, you might find the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust helpful for information and support. Take care.

I had an ectopic and have no history PID. I went on to have two healthy children. Its just bad luck.
I'm sorry that you are going through this.

I had an ectopic last October following 3 missed miscarriages (the 3 mmcs had implanted normally). I had no other risk factors and am currently 8 months pregnant with my rainbow baby. As other posters have said, sometimes life really does just deal you a shit hand with no rhyme or reason. I'm so sorry for your loss, please try to stay off Google although I know how hard that is!
