Ivf criteria

To add a bit of background I do not ovulate without having clomid and I have adenomyosis. It was taking a long time to get pregnant so was referred to care fertility for ivf under the nhs. Whilst on our last cycle of clomid before stopping this and moving on to try ivf medication under the clinic I found out I was pregnant, but Miscarried at 9 weeks. The clinic is now stating that I no longer meet criteria for nhs funded ivf as i had conceived ‘naturally’ ( despite being in clomid) and is now stating I would have to wait a further year to qualify for nhs funding according to my local Nottinghamshire ICB despite having all of the fertility drugs at my house. Has anyone had any experience of this/ has anyone challenged this before?

I’m really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. After waiting so long it must feel very cruel.

I haven’t been in that exact situation but I thought the criteria was a living child. It seems incredibly harsh to say that you need to wait another year. I would definitely challenge this. Could you contact PALS? There must be someone who knows the rules inside out.

I had a referral for IVF and had 3 miscarriages during the wait but randomly I did get pregnant naturally and it worked out so in the end I didn’t need them. I hope the same happens for you while you wait. I would have hoped they would have given me treatment though if it hadn’t.

@Kld124

Hello,

Firstly, sorry to hear about your miscarriage and what you are going through.

I wonder if you can tell me if you’ve had a success with disputing this? I conceived naturally twice over the last 3 years, one was a very early miscarriage before our first referral appointment and the second one was in February of this year, a month before we were due to start IVF and this ended up being an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in me losing my tube.

The NHS have pulled the funding as we have had two “successful” pregnancies and I am looking at disputing this.
