Hi
After miscarrying at 20 weeks in my first pregnancy in Dec, we finally received the post mortem report... The doctor who was supposed to explain did a very shabby job 😞 but bottom line was that the umbilical cord was too long and also showed signs of restricted blood flow to the fetus and placenta... They mentioned that this is something that you cannot control for and is not a genetic thing but an act of God!! Its been 6 months but genuinely I still am not able to process this loss... It hurts so much imagining that if everything had gone alright I would have had my baby girl in my arms by now... Knowing now that this is a random event makes me even more nervous about future pregnancies...anyone here has had similar post mortem results? And anything you did differently for future pregnancies please do tell thanks!

I'm so sorry for your loss OP. Have you had any counselling or support for this loss? If not, maybe speak to ARC. https://www.arc-uk.org/
Did you have any ceremony, funeral, closure? Even writing a letter to your little girl about your feelings and lighting a candle can be helpful to get your feelings out.
The report says that genetic testing was still pending. Had this come through now? It also mentioned the cord position and that this issue is more common in 1st pregnancies. You have likely read this already, but this was the wiki info I found: Velamentous cord insertion - Wikipedia

There is nothing you did that was wrong or caused this OP and you aren't alone. I lost my 1st pregnancy to a genetic problem and had to also read through the autopsy notes. Its difficult, but it does read that its uncommon to happen next time around in your case x
