I am 10 weeks pregnant, was?

I had a scan this morning, baby is measuring 2-3 weeks behind what we expected and had a very weak heartbeat.

The sonographer said I should expect a miscarriage to happen within the next week.

I am booked in a week today to confirm, or not.

I have have cramping and some brown blood.

What should I expect to happen?

Im really sorry you're going through this.
I dont want to be the bear of bad news, however thats how all my miscarriages started.
When you go for the scan they will look for the heartbeat, if theres no heartbeat they will ask you whether you want natural management, medical management or a d&c.
They will talk to you about your options regarding this.

In the mean time, if you naturally start to miscarry during this week, make sure you have a warm bath, a hot water bottle and plenty of paracetomol at hand, it will be painful when those cramps start, there will be more bleeding, thats bright red with clots.

Its heartbreaking, and again im so sorry you're going through this, wishing you all the best x

Thank you for the reply.

The waiting feels awful.

can you explain what is meant by natural management/ medical management?

I thought a d&c was done after a miscarriage if not everything’s came away?

I feel a bit clueless and overwhelmed by it all.

Theres no need to feel like you do its completely normal.

So natural, is where you have to wait and wait and wait for your body to recognise that it needs to repel the pregnancy, giving you contractions for you to birth the embryo/fetus this can take days or even weeks to happen

Medical management happens a little quicker. So that will be same day, you put 6 tablets inside your vagina, 4 in one dose and 2 in the second dose 3 hours later. You can do this orally but it takes longer, this is to help your body start those contractions and expel the pregnancy through cramping and bleeding.

D&C. You can opt for it, if you want it done quickly, my SIL had a d&c as she had found out that her baby died at 9 weeks but she found out at her 12 week scan so opted for d&c so she didnt have to wait around.

I had retained tissue when i had my miscarriage naturally (not intentional) they just gave me medical management for that little bit of tissue because they said the tissue was too far up in my uterus for them to do anything about it. No questions are silly regarding this, its completely normal not to know, i didnt have a clue before my first miscarriage x

I am sorry you are going through this too. I am seven weeks but have spent 3 weeks in epu most days as it was suspected ectopic. A scan on Wednesday revealed they think it’s a failing pregnancy and I should pass it soon. I have another scan next Wednesday and provisional operation booked to remove it. I bled a little Wednesday evening and thought it was starting to happen but it’s come to nothing. So I am just sat waiting x
