Miscarriage, what's normal?

I unfortunately went for a scan at around 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I waited for miscarriage to happen naturally but it wasn't happening and I mentally needed it to be done. I went to the hospital on Monday this week and took the tablets. Bleeding happened soon after I got home and it took around 6 hours of excruciating pain for the sac to pass. I didn't have alot of clotting, bleeding. Nothing as heavy as I thought I might. Thursday I had another afternoon of really intense cramps, lots of large clots etc. I was hoping it was my body shedding anything pregnancy related that was left. However this morning I have really intense cramps again. Is this normal?

The bleeding this week isn't what I would call heavy. I've always suffered really badly with period cramps. I have PCOS and a Bicornuate Uterus. I was hoping the miscarriage cramps would have gone by now. It mentally and physically draining.

Anyone experienced similar intense cramps on and off after miscarriage? Should I wait it out or call the doctors on Monday.

I haven’t had quite the same experience, but I do know there is no “normal” when it comes to miscarriage. And the not knowing what to expect can make an already difficult experience feel even worse.

Tommys (the baby loss charity) have a helpline staffed by midwives. They are so sympathetic and supportive, and really know what they are talking about when it comes to what to expect.

I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Thanks for your message. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I went to the hospital today for a scan and there was retained tissue which is why I've continued to have so much pain. I've taken some more tablets to see if it can pass it. If not I'll have to have a surgery while under as they've said they wouldn't be able to do it while awake. Hoping it passes with these tablets so I can move on to mentally healing.
