Hi All.

following two miscarriages one at 16 weeks and one at 12 weeks I have delved into the world of it starts with an egg whilst waiting to be seen by the recurrent clinic. It’s all very confusing, but has definitely given me food for thought.

what supplements are you choosing to take?

TIA.

My consultant suggested Impryl to us. Both my husband and I took it, and whether or not it helped we’ll never know, but we did go on to have our gorgeous second boy so it can’t have hurt!

Nic2908 · 16/04/2024 16:30

@SagittariusUprising ive not heard of that I shall look into it. Thank you very much.

my partner takes wellman and I do pregnacare. You can buy them together on Amazon x

Littlelatte90 · 16/04/2024 17:15

Ask your doctor for a blood test to check all your levels including your Iron/ vitamin d. I’ve had 2 midterm losses and have read a lot about these being very important for placenta development.

Nic2908 · 16/04/2024 19:28

@Littlelatte90 thats great advice. Thank you. Did you supplement at all?

After my MMC I had some blood tests and was very, very low on vit D. Not certain if this was the cause, we will never know but currently in 4000 iu vit D daily, 5MG folate (not folic acid), a high dose of Omega 3 and vit B complex.

Arrestedmanevolence · 16/04/2024 21:11

After my MMC and many early MCs I took 75mg of aspirin a day and I got my DS.

Mctm · 16/04/2024 21:24

Myo-inositol, zinc, zita west ttc suplements

Nic2908 · 16/04/2024 21:31

@Objectiontime fid you get these through your gp or are they certain ones you chose to purchase?

@Arrestedmanevolence did you take the aspirin from positive test or following an early scan?

@Mctm ive looked at the zita west supplements they look great but so expensive. Are they worth the amount of money? £166 a month seems a lot.

I am celiac so I do have to choose GF brands. I didnt actually get prescriptions from GP, just recommendations based on blood results. I was already taking more folic acid than average because I am celiac but that was a little on the low side too. I chose to take natural folate instead because it goes straight to action rather than having to go through several actions before it can be used by the body. Equally, it doesnt build up in the system in the same way FA does so therefore safer to take a higher dose of.
Regarding the Omega 3, I dont tollerate aspirin very well. Both aspirin and Omega 3 are blood thinning and while aspirin is obviously anti inflammatory, Omega 3 is also said to reduce inflamation and is also said to regulate the immune system so I am seeing how I go with that. Hoping for a BFP soon but time will tell.
The vitamin B complex is just a general gluten free one.

The number of supplements you can take is mind boggling, but two pretty basic and very good things to take are vitamin D and coenzyme Q10. The last one is an antioxidant and who knows, may be part of the reason I conceived at 40, 44, and 45.
It has a protective effect against cellular damage. Good luck!

Nic2908 · 17/04/2024 07:30

@Lemonvalley which coq10 did you take and how much I’m so confused by what to take but realise the importance and significance of the research behind it.

@Nic2908 I know, the variety of everything is mind boggling. I’ve switched between different brands of coq10 because I’ve heard it’s good to do that. But the soft-gel ones apparently are absorbed better. if you Google soft-gel coq10 that should narrow it down a little. I’ve used the capsule variety too though. I’m sure it’s still good for your body, even if it’s not the cream of the crop. I currently use the soft gel coq10 by Wagner, but have used the “doctor’s best” capsules in the past. I included a pic. Hope this helps. I’m so sorry for your losses X

What point did you start the aspirin?

Littlelatte90 · 18/04/2024 00:32

I didn’t take anything other than pregnacare omega 3 and folic acid. We were told it was highly unlikely to happen again after the first loss.

Nic2908 · 20/04/2024 08:00

Bumping to see if anymore advice out there

Hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread.
Have been reading the replies & been looking at supplements too.

Following 2 MMC I want to try & improve my egg quality. I’ve read about coq10, DHA omega 3 and myo-inositol (along with folic acid & vitamin D which I did before)
Anyone else done this combination & think it’s ok to do? I feel the myo-inositol might help due to irregular periods since stopping birth control last year

Nic2908 · 02/05/2024 18:07

I’ve just started my regimen this last week. In the end I have done for the vita west coq10. The proceive prenatal and omega 3. And then a vitamin d oral spray. I chose the proceive because it has folate instead of folic acid but it also has other reccomended bits and pieces in it too. Fingers crossed but it I felt like it was a good place for me to start.

I hope you start feeling the benefit from them - think im going to get my Amazon order in. It feels like it’s worth a try, and hopefully should make some difference. Think I’ll feel better for being proactive taking them

Nic2908 · 02/05/2024 21:51

I hope so. I just had to do something to change something. If that makes sense. How are you feeling about everything?

OP posts:
Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 21:56

That’s how I feel.
I’m feeling really down this evening. Was trying to think positive earlier, but my mind keeps running away & replaying everything that’s happened & then worrying about the future.
I always knew people struggled to have babies, but naively didn’t think it would happen to me

Nic2908 · 02/05/2024 21:59

I’m very blessed and have a three year old where everything was uncomplicated and straightforward. I was so naive to think that it would be like that again. And even more so after my last loss. Listen to your body. I was exhausted after surgery but it was the anaesthetic still in my body. Be kind to yourself, it’s still so incredibly raw.

Figtree11 · 02/05/2024 22:07

Thank you, I really appreciate it. Fingers crossed for us both that we get our double rainbow babies in the not too distant future x
