Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Think I'm miscarrying again - any point seeing doc?

Need a little advice - had a mmc in November 07. Came away naturally at 9 weeks. BFP last week but something made me do another test today and it was negative at 5 weeks gone. This afternoon started back/period like pain then found pinkish on loo paper (TMI!). Sounds like a miscarriage, yeah? I guess as test was negative there's no point in seeing the doc?

And I've got a cold. Pissed off!!

Bugger

Sorry for your loss. Personally I didn't seek medical help until several weeks after my early miscarriages - I was happy to have scans to establish there were no RPOC left over but didn't want the inevitable poking and lack of sympathy from the hospital at the time.

Hmm, I know what you mean - although the EPU at my local hospital was great last time, I'm so early that I can't imagine there's much 'in there' and it'll hopefully all come away like a heavy period.

SOD it! I'm starting to sound like an experienced miscarrier. Hoped that would never happen to me. Thank GOD for my other two DCs.

If you can stand the NHS at a time like this, I think I would go to the docs.

I always think it's best to have these things on record.

Just in case they need to know at any time

Loveverona - you sound like me. I miscarried, had one DD, miscarried and am now pregnant with a DS (23 weeks).

Before seven weeks there is very little to come out though you can bleed a lot. Once the majority of tissue has passed, the pain disapates.

The issue really is about why it's happening - and also ruling out ectopic pregnancy etc. I assume you have no shoulder tip pain, sweating, fever etc.? If you have go directly to A&E, do not pass go, do not collect £200 etc.

After three miscarriages as well you do get referred to the recurrent mc unit for assessment (whether or not this is something you'd want is another matter). So I always turn up at the GPs later to have it noted. Just not for a few days at least. They can still pick up HCG in the blood so they know you were pregnant.

HI Loveverona. I went through the same last month. Postive test, then a week later negative and bleeding started the next day.I went to my GP who seemed to wonder what I was doing there and said I did not need to go if I had another early miscarriage (although I wouldn't say he was very reliable really as he said he had never heard of a positive test followed by a negative a few days later)

THanks Chocolate - I actually had two very healthy pregnancies with dd and dc, then the two miscarriages. Of course, now I'm convinced there's something wrong with me and should we just stop at two. We'd love another one though, but there's a limit as to how much a woman can put herself through.

I will go to the docs this week, just to be checked out. THanks for your kind words - MN really does help at times like this.

It's great isn't it Majormoo - you go there expecting your GP to know what he's talking about and end up educating him! I just hope bleeding starts as normal now. I guess if I didn;t have such regular periods and test so early, I'd never have known I was preggers again.

Two bad eggs does not make a bad mummy!

The fact that you've had two children indicates you are fertile and able to carry children. Chances are you have been really unlucky and that next time you will give birth to a healthy happy third baby.

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I have been there twice too and still struggle with it sometimes even though I also have 2 DCs. I also really wanted 3 but am not so sure now...I think if you can avoid GP/Hospital probably best as they really made me feel 100 times worse...being scanned with all the healthy pregnant ladies, the sonographer not having my notes and so assuming I was there for the same as the others...DH not managing to be there with me...Not a nice experience. Go when you're ready or if you are experiencing any other symptoms as well. Take it easy.

I recently had mc around 6 weeks, and my gp was lovely- sorry you had that majormoo.
It was my first though, so I just went for the advice re medical stuff really.
I was in shock a little too though, as I hadn;t needed to test to know i was pg, as was having symptoms already- so it really helped that she was supportive and understanding.

Sorry for your loss loveverona

loveverona · 29/03/2008 21:05

EachPeachPearMum, so sorry for you. I'm always so conscious that MC must be very hard when it's your first. Really pleased GP was supportive - it makes such a difference.

Hi keevamum - I know what you mean. Each time it's happened it's made me question if it's really what we want, but I think that's more about the possibility of going through this again, rather than do I want a third.

Might just get a cat instead!

Lovely words Chocolate, thank you! That's how I feel at my best moments.
