Support from gp

Hi

I’m just wondering if anyone knows about any support I can get from my gp please. I have 3 children but lost an ovary during the birth of my last child nearly 12 years ago.
in the last year I have had 2 early loses and now a miscarriage where the baby was slightly older. I am so angry. I have been bleeding for 2 weeks fairly heavily. I thought the last pregnancy was going to go to full term, I had so much hope. I have been well cared for by hospital inc scans and blood tests etc but I think I need medical support from the gp. I don’t know why I’ve lost the babies but I would like to find answers and try progesterone? Would that help. I don’t know what to do. Sorry for the rambling x

Have you spoken to your doctor after your most recent loss? I had 2 consecutive miscarriages in 2022 and the dr wouldn't do anything apart from some fairly basic standard blood tests which were fairly useful in the end. Because you have had 3 they should be referring you to the Recurrant miscarriage clinic. After my 2 miscarriages I went private for testing (this was where the blood tests the drs did were useful as I didn't need to pay for them privately) they also did an AMH and follicle count which was useful for my situation. They also prescribed me progesterone for my next pregnancy (currently sat here at 40+4 weeks pregnant and honestly 100% credit progesterone for it) all situations are different but push your doctor to do something. Good luck! X

Hi

thank you so much for your reply and I am so happy to hear you are 40+4 😊. I haven’t spoken to my gp yet as I’ve transferred to a new doctors but I have had lots and of support from epu so I’m hoping I will get support. I am determined to push for support from the gp xx

If the epu are looking after you the doctor may not get too involved as the recurrent miscarriage clinic should take it all on for you, all testing etc. I know sometimes there can be a long waiting list for the Recurrant miscarriage clinics though so check in with epu and get them to confirm they have referred you and waiting times. You might be better off pressing epu now x

@NotPregnantmamatoad I am so sorry.
I had miscarriage following no heartbeat at the 20 week scan on 7th March this year. We have opted for a full post mortem and the hospital conducted blood tests on the following:

-Toxoplasmosis (normal result)
-CMV (normal result)
-Parvovirus (normal result)
-Autoimmune Liver Screen (normal result)
-Clotting and Kidney function (normal)
-Vaginal and placental swab for infection and listeriosis not back yet.

In addition to this I had an appointment with my GP on Friday and have blood tests next week to check blood sugar and TSH. This is to rule out thyroid and diabetes issues. I am not sure if this information is helpful to you but I am keen to rule things out myself and so thought would be good to share.
