I recently had surgical management following a missed miscarriage and am still very much in the recovery stages. My gut instinct had been to try again as soon as the bleeding stopped, however I met a fertility acupuncturist today who mentioned that after a miscarriage you have a wound in your cervix that ideally needs two to three cycles to heal and if you get pregnancy before it heals and the egg implants in that spot you will likely miscarriage. I’ve done some googling and can’t seem to find anything about open wounds although I guess it kind of makes sense? Anyway I was hoping there was a dr on here who could comment on this? I really want to minimise the risk of another miscarriage, but equally I’m in my late 30s and my husband is mid 40s so feel like time is not on our side. Thanks in advance

I'm no doctor but I have never heard that before. Not sure why you would have a wound in your cervix since it is softened or gently dialated for the surgery. I had surgical management of an an MMC in the Autumn and was told we could try again as soon as we felt ready and there was no bleeding. I didnt actually have any bleeding after the surgery. It took about six weeks before AF came back but nothing was mentioned about wounds to tge cervix.

Given that the cervix is not where implantation would occur, I'd be inclined to believe the acupuncturist is incorrect. I was told to wait until I have a period to try again for dating purposes but that getting pregnant straight away wouldn't increase risk of miscarriage.
