Is it worth any testing after one miscarriage

Found out at 12 week scan that baby stopped growing at 9 weeks. First pregnancy. I'm 37. Is it worth doing testing yet or just hope for next time that everything turns out ok? I would just rather know if there is an issue that I could fix now before more heartache.

The same thing happened to me last week, and it was absolutely devastating, I'm really sorry you are going through this. It's absolutely shit.
As someone who is also 37 and on repeated rounds of IVF, i wish I had considered testing. I was so numb it didn't even occur to me. I think if I were you and I had the option to pay for private testing, I would do it. Even if if just tells you it was one of those things, it might make you feel less anxious in a future pregnancy. Hope the next few days go as well as they can.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s most likely that it was not a sign on any ongoing issue, but I think it’s worth testing for sure. Not because one miscarriage necessarily indicates any issue, but just because in a way it’s worth testing at any point in the journey iyswim. I really hope all is fine and most likely it will be x

So sorry for your loss. It just fucking sucks doesn't it? We can afford testing so I think we will - though I need to figure out what.

Yeah this is my thinking too. I would just rather know now.

Does anyone know if the NHS would help me find somewhere privately to test the remains?

Also - can anyone point me to anywhere that gives clarity on any blood tests etc my partner and I should have?

I'm not sure if the NHS will help you find somewhere, I guess there's no harm in asking as they will run tests for recurrent miscarriages, so maybe you can pay to have it straight away. Your GP will offer you blood tests and your OH a sperm analysis on the NHS if you have been trying for a year already. That would be once your periods are back to normal though as they have to take place on certain days of your cycle.

I guess I will see what they say. We already had the basic fertility tests before we conceived...nothing showed up. Hopefully this is a shitty one off experience but I want to preempt things if it isn't.

@fsr111 I am so sorry you have been through this too. Rooting for both of us for a successful next pregnancy 💓

I think that fertility clinics can probably run some of the blood tests. If you are in London there is someone I would recommend so pm me if so.
