3 miscarriages but one child in between can I get testing?

I’m hoping someone may be able to help me. I’m currently going through my third miscarriage. I had two miscarriages before getting pregnant with my son and now I’ve just had another miscarriage confirmed. When I’m looking online to find any information as to if I can request any testing to find out why I seem to struggle to keep a pregnancy past 6 weeks it says I can if I have had 3 recurrent miscarriages. Now the problem with that is that I’ve had my son in between the last two and this one. So I’m unsure if I can ask for it to be investigated or if because I have had a successful pregnancy that they will tell me no. The idea of going through this again just terrifies me but I’m also not ready to give up on having another child.

Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately nhs being nhs it has to be 3 miscarries in a row to be tested as they still seem to believe that if you have 1 baby inbegween miscarriages theres no fault its just something that can happen during the first trimester without any medical reason.

Bit of a shit situation because you exepct to get help.

Think it may be worth going private if you're really thinking of getting the help for 3 miscarriages.

@LER2023 Thanks that was my thought. Seems ridiculous to make someone go through this so many times when theres a chance that it could be avoided. I can't afford to go private its just not in the budget.

I'm so sorry you're going through this again, it's just so horrible.

I'm pretty sure the rules changed fairly recently so you should be able to get some investigations despite having a living child. Of course, GPs aren't always up to date with the latest guidelines etc. so I'd check the Tommy's and Miscarriage Association websites or call their helplines as they'll be able to clarify and direct you on your best course of action.

Good luck.

@RiverRiot thank you I did find that on the miscarriage association website it now states that if you've had three miscarriages even if there not in a row that you can request they investigate why. So think once I get my last bloods back I'll make an appointment with the gp to see if he can refer me.
