im wondering if anyone has gone through the same experience as me, I suffered a miscarriage a week ago confirmed by my gp. I had 1-2 weeks on a clearblue digital the day before miscarrying. This afternoon I decided to do a pregnancy test just out of curiosity and it has now gone up to 2-3 weeks I was just wondering if this is normal and it’s just my body adjusting?

I'm so sorry.

What means of confirmation did your GP use?

Dixiesae10 · 13/01/2024 14:36

I sent him pictures and he confirmed it that way.

I think I would be asking the GP for a referral to the EPU for a scan. If you have had a miscarriage, then potentially rising HCG levels (and much as I'm sceptical of clearblue weeks tests, they are at least making an attempt at assessing this) should be checked out to make sure everything has passed okay. But also - and I'm no medic, so admittedly I don't have very specific knowledge here - I'm not sure what your GP or anyone else could have seen in a photo so early to be certain about you having miscarried. A scan/blood tests would potentially be very helpful in knowing exactly what's happening.

I'm so sorry, I know this is really tough. Best wishes to you.

I agree with the above…not sure how a picture could ever confirm a miscarriage…only a scan. That early it could be implantation bleeding. You need to ring your local EPU and get bloods/possibly a scan. Sending love ❤️

Please call your local EPU. I had the exactly the same thing happen and it was an ectopic pregnancy, which can be very dangerous if left untreated. That said. CB tests aren't definitive. You need to do a blood test for HCG and repeat after 48 hours to check if levels are rising.

Hiya. I’ve also had a GP “confirm” a miscarriage over the phone based on my describing symptoms. I wasn’t in fact miscarrying at all, and that pregnancy is now my healthy 2 year old! I ignored the GP and self-referred to the EPU.

I had a lot of bleeding in that pregnancy, including very large clots, and it took a while for them to diagnose it was actually caused by a cervical polyp.

Please go to the EPU as soon as you can to have them scan you as that’s the only way you’ll know for sure.

good luck.

As above, you need a referral to the EPU. I had a positive pregnancy test for a month after heavy bleeding which I assumed was a miscarriage at 6 weeks. GP refused to refer me, I ended up in A&E. It was ectopic but luckily by the time it was found on a scan it was resolving by itself. Try not to worry but do get yourself checked out.

Thank you all for your responses. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with the epu for further tests! 🤞🏻
