C section scar etopic

Hi
It's been confirmed today after 3 weeks of having scans that what I'm going through is a scar etopic pregnancy. I'm waiting for a specialist to contact me to take next steps. But Iv just felt worried with the waiting around. And from research I can't find many experiences of other people going through it. So I'm hoping to find people that have been through this, that could tell me there story's and just some one that knows how it feels. With it being so rare and not knowing anyone's experiences,
It just makes me feel alone.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I didn't have a scar ectopic but I got a lot of support from the Ectopic pregnancy trust forum. ectopic.org.uk/

CinnamonbunsandApples · 10/01/2024 21:03

There is a fb group ms a lot of women on there have successfully continued their pregnancy (but these were high risk pregnancies) i can’t link it I’ll check the name of the group they are very knowledgeable

CinnamonbunsandApples · 10/01/2024 21:05

The fb group is called ‘continuing a c section scar ectopic’

I’ve had one and it was truly awful so I’m really sorry you’re going through this. You can’t have a d&c with a c section ectopic so most likely you will be offered a chemotherapy injection to help disolve it and if that doesn’t work it needs to be surgically removed via laparoscopy. At the same time they will probably correct your scar from the inside. It’s the most dangerous type of pregnancy you can have and they are probably taking their time with it as they don’t have any experience in it. There are not a huge amount of cases so not all doctors would be experienced it. I’m sorry again, it’s so devastating but if you need to dm me please feel free.

Hi @candyflossxox I have recently been through the same and still trying to process the experience. It is so hard. How are you doing? Happy to chat here or by DM.

I had a c-section scar ectopic last year, had 2 doses of methotrexate but had to have the surgery anyway in March anyway when I should have been about 10 weeks.
I'm now 28 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby so all is not lost for subsequent pregnancies if you chose to have more. The only difference in this pregnancy is that the c section will be booked for 37 weeks to reduce the chances of the scar rupturing as baby grows and they want to avoid me going into labour. Happy to be in touch if you have any questions and hope you're ok Flowers

This gives me hope, i had a c section ectopic in July last year & the surgery in August. I really want to try again but really scared. Has your pregnancy been smooth otherwise? Im just worried something will go wrong again :(

Hi I’m going through this right now how are you getting on?

Oh so sorry! Hope you're doing okay? I'm feeling a lot better now, it was a very long ordeal. I had laproscopy surgery in January and then issues with retained tissue which only just seems to be sorted. It’s been a long journey!

Hi @candyflossxox How have you got on since? I had a d&c for csection ectopic 3 weeks ago and they found yesterday i have retained products. The specialist I saw said I will have to wait 2 months for it to clear on its own and do not require surgery right now, as I'm not bleeding.
Did you have your scar evaluated afterwards to see if there is a defect or a niche? I hope you're doing well.

candyflossxox · 24/03/2025 16:31

@mommytobe2020Hey, so sorry I only just have seen this! But i notice it’s from a long time ago!!
My retained products was left to clear on there own also. Which took around 4 months. Long process but got there! Did it go ok for you?
I did have a niche in my scar which had a repair during the surgery when they removed the pregnancy. Hope you’re doing okay. Sorry I didn’t see this message when you sent it !!

Hi @candyflossxox thank you for your response no worries! It was a tough time for me and tough waiting for the retained products to clear. American doctors pushed for me to have a lap repair, but UK doctors were adamant I should not. I decided not to and I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with a pregnancy implanted in the correct place! Thank you for following up xx

candyflossxox · 24/03/2025 19:56

@mommytobe2020 that’s amazing! Congratulations! After my repair I was told to wait a year to try again. Iv just found out I’m pregnant (very early days) awaiting my 6 week scan to check placement. So very anxious and nerve wracking. (That’s how I ended up spotting this old thread, researching stuff again). I’m glad it has worked out for you x

Gentle congratulations to you too! It was a nerve wracking time those early days… especially because I had a lot of cramping and some spotting too. I was certain it would be bad news again. Doctors here told me it was very low chance of reoccurrence. Wishing you the best! Xx

I had a menstrual period twelve days ago. On the ninth day following the start of my period, I began testing for luteinizing hormone (LH). To my surprise, the LH test appeared dark, which is unusual for this stage of my cycle. Out of caution, I decided to take a pregnancy test.

The result was positive. Given my history of ectopic pregnancy and the surgical removal of my right fallopian tube three months ago, I scheduled an early ultrasound for further assessment.

During the scan, the nurse noted what appeared to be a possible ectopic pregnancy located on my previous C-section scar. I also viewed the ultrasound and observed what looked like a black, empty circle. The nurse requested a second opinion from a physician.

The attending doctor performed another scan but explained that the images were inconclusive and not sufficient to make a definitive diagnosis. My HCG level was measured at 330, which I believe may be low for this stage. However, I have noticed that my pregnancy test lines have been progressing each day.

I am extremely anxious. Much of the information I’ve come across online regarding scar ectopic pregnancies is quite concerning.

i just came across this forum and it seems positive, I’m really scared xx

@Mollyrrh44 I am very sorry you are going through such a tough time. Unfortunately CSEPs are not something you can wait around and see what happens for long before your health is put into risk. Can I ask where in the UK you are? I can highly recommend the walk in Early Pregnancy clinic at UCLH in London where Professor Jurcovic heads. He is a world authority on Csection scar ectopic pregnancies and him and his team are very well-versed in this problem. You do not need a referral to go there.
