Recurrent Miscarriage & Rainbow Clinic

Hi All

Quick question to fellow recurrent miscarriers - I had three losses following which I was referred to the rainbow clinic and then I successfully had my DS. He is going to be 3 next year and I'm going back and forth on the idea of trying for another baby, mostly because I found the losses and the pregnancy with him extremely difficult and gruelling and frankly my MH took real battering. I'm feeling good now, but wow, it wasn't easy at all.

My question is would I still be under the rainbow clinic automatically in my subsequent pregnancies due to my history or does the fact I had DS break the cycle if you like and my subsequent pregnancies would be treated the same as an average no-prior-losses pregnancy?

If I'm still eligible for rainbow clinic care, how do I go about this once I find out I'm pregnant again (assuming this happens...of course no guarantees)?

Thank you in advance, this has been bothering me for a while and I can't find the answers anywhere.

@Whataretheodds I know each to their own, but I declined reassurance scans as any scans made me highly stressed and I felt there was no point to extra ones.
We paid for an early 8-week one with one pregnancy and all perfect only to have bad news at our 14-week scan. I had no idea baby had passed 😞

@LorlieS sorry for your loss. I know, it's no guarantee, especially if your losses occurred after the gestation of the scan offered! My first MC was after a healthy 7 week scan with heartbeat etc. And I could have declined - I didn't really start relaxing until the dating scan and NIPT, then not really believing it was real until the 20 week anatomy scan.

I want reassurance scans because I know what does and what doesn't help me by now (it is each to their own, so if the same doesn't help some of you, I absolutely understand and it's your valid choice).

My GP definitely doesn't prescribe progesterone in early pregnancy, I would either have to go private and pay or wait for a referral to an OB-GYN which would likely take me beyond first trimester and therefore would be pretty pointless.

I'm looking for women in the same boat as me who can advise from personal experience whether we are still eligible for rainbow clinic or not, and how you went about it.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful towards those of you who chose different paths but equally I know what I need and I'm looking for specific advice please.

Is the MN consensus that one has to book in with a GP asap after a positive test and request a referral to the EPAU rainbow clinic, then have progesterone and aspirin prescribed by them?

My GP doesn't do 'pre-pregnancy appointments', I can barely get through when I'm poorly to be seen.

In answer to your question, my GP did refer me to EPAU for bloods & scans.
My GP also referred me to the multiple miscarriage clinic. ( it wasn’t called Rainbow clinic)

It was the multiple miscarriage clinic that prescribed asprin, high dose folic acid, clexane and progesterone.
I went to my local EPAU for reassurance scans because the reoccurring miscarriage clinic were quite a long distance from my home.

My GP was brilliant.
I know it’s tough getting appointments op, I wish you all the very best x
