Hi everyone I'm looking for some reassurance as have read so many horror stories

I found out 2 weeks ago that I've had a missed misscaridge at 6+4 days when I was supposed to be 8 weeks sadly there was no heartbeat anymore 😢

What id like to know is,how long did you wait to pass natrully as its now coming upto 3 weeks and ive been spotting for 5 days but nothing more,is it dangerous risk of infection to wait for too long? Also is a 6 week misscaridge as bad as some of the stories im seeing on here 😪 I'm terrified to have to have a d&c under general and also wanted to ask has anyone had a d&c under epidural in the uk

So sorry for all of your losses sending lots of love 💗

I am so sorry for your loss, i think at this early gestation it shouldn't be too bad, more like a heavy period if that. I discovered a MMC at 8 weeks, baby was measuring just over 6, i didnt have even spotting, i tried medical twice and nothing and ended up needing a d&c, i personally would want it over and done with if i was you, so you can move on physically and more importantly emotionally.

I would speak to doc and if possible get a d&c, i woulnt even bother with medical given my experience, recovery is minimal, so is bleeding. I had a D&c under GA and all was well, i was physically shaking with nerves and i neednt have.

So sorry for your loss OP. I had a miscarriage last year, it started off naturally but I needed medical and surgical management to complete it. I had the surgery over two weeks after the miscarriage started. Everybody is different but surgical management was a much better experience for me - no waiting around and wondering when it would start like with medical, and the actual surgery only takes 10 minutes. I was home just after lunch and having the physical part over provided some closure for me. It was done under general anaesthetic, but I know some places offer MVA which is done with local anaesthetic but I’ve not heard of D&Cs being done under local.
I imagine you’d be offered medical management first?
Some people will say their miscarriages before 8 weeks were like a heavy period, but mine was 7 weeks and I had very heavy bleeding so it’s hard to predict. I hope things go as smoothly as possible for you.

Sorry you're going through this ❤
I had a missed miscarriage discovered at 11 weeks, was measuring 7+4. Booked in for surgical management a week later, so would have been the day of my 12 week scan, but unfortunately or fortunately completed the miscarriage that morning. Had mild period pains and spotting for the week, then the morning of I woke up in pain, gradually getting worse, within an hour I had what I imagine were contraction pains and passed it whilst on the toilet then the pain was over. So took just over 4 weeks for my body to recognise and complete the miscarriage was told there was no risk or infection or anything at the point. Had scan after the intense pain and they said all looked as it should and lining was reducing already.

Hope it isn't too bad physically for you ❤
