Impending miscarriage and flight

Had a scan on Saturday due to constant spotting and was told they could see nothing except a sac and said it's probably a blighted ovum and i will miscarry soon. The bleeding is still the same not enough to soak a pad but constantly spotting bright red. I have a flight booked for Friday. Have spent loads of money on the tickets and all the packing done, DH has taken leave, informed DD's nursery, everything done. Now I'm so messed up of what if I miscarry on the flight? I spoke to a midwife who assured me that even if I do miscarry as I am only 7 weeks it won't be that bad. I'm so stressed at the moment that I cannot even have a good night's sleep. Any advice please?.

I've had 3 miscarriages all between 6 and 8 weeks. They have all been like heavy periods, extra cramping but honestly for me the mental load was the worst part (knowing it wasn't a normal period). While it'd be nice to be able to rest at home, I'd just pack extra heavy pads and painkillers.

Sorry for your loss x

@BudgetBuster The midwife told me exactly the same thing to just expect a bad period. Mentally I feel so numb. Tears just randomly come up when I'm in bed at night. But I need to be strong for my DC.

Sorry for your loss. I think you'd need to check with your travel insurance on this now it's a known condition. I had a very messy miscarriage a few weeks later than you and needed medical attention. Im sure you'll be absolutely fine but I'd not risk being stuck somewhere without insurance.

Sorry for your loss OP. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks last year and ended up in hospital as I was bleeding so much. It was much heavier than I would have expected, but it sounds like I’m in the minority. It’s worth considering how long the flight is and what healthcare is like where you’re going. We had a trip planned shortly after and got all our costs back through travel insurance.

Hi lovely, I am so sorry you're going through this. I have had two miscarriages, one at 7 weeks and one at 8 weeks (the pregnancy measured 6 weeks) and I absolutely would not have wanted to be on a flight while going through them. With both I barely left the toilet for a couple of hours as the bleeding was heavy and with the second one I was passing huge clots. Both were very painful but the first one I was having contractions. For me, they were really nothing like a period. Don't get me wrong, they were manageable and I didn't need intervention, but I would not have coped on a plane. Honestly, it could be fine, and it is for some but I personally wouldn't. :(

Hi op. I miscarried with a blighted ovum found at my 12 week scan after no signs of anything being wrong. I didn't MC naturally and needed a D&C. May be different for you as you are already bleeding but could check with the EPU who might know more

Hi, so sorry for your loss. I was also told my miscarriage would be 'just like a period' but for me, it was nothing like it. Very heavy bleeding, very painful cramps and the moment I passed what I belive was the sac, was very emotionally difficult. I would not want to go through that on a plane or away from home.
I don't want to ruin your plans, but I wish someone had prepared me for what some miscarriages can be like.
Wishing you the best whatever you decide x
