Partial molar pregnancy

Wondering if anyone has any experience.

After 18 months TTC I finally became pregnant, only to find out at 11 weeks it was a MMC measuring about 8 weeks. Had an ERPC 3 days later. Got a phonecall (2 weeks since ERPC) to inform me it was a partial molar pregnancy. I will now have my bloods weekly to track HCG and go from there.

I had already done a home pregnancy test before getting this news just to check and it had a very faint line. Bleeding stopped a few days ago and for about 3 days now I've had what looks like EWCM. I was adamant to TTC straight away so when I saw the EWCM and bleeding had stopped etc we went for it. Then I get this phonecall a day later! I guess now I'm terrified that I may have ovulated and chance of pregnancy which is obviously not good. I suppose my question is, is it possible to have ovulated so soon? I really didn't think it was especially with a faint line on pregnancy test.
But now I'm driving myself crazy with worry. I will ask these questions at my hosp appointment too but just wanted to see if anyone had any experience? I would imagine with a partial molar it wouldn't be possible to ovulate as I expect HCG is high...but without knowing about the molar the EWCM really had me wondering if I was ovulating.
The other thing is I didn't have any crazy pregnancy symptoms and I've been reading that nausea and vomiting is usually quite extreme with any kind of molar due to high HCG. I was nauseous but not extremely and only got sick a handful of times. I can't make sense of this being a molar with no extreme symptoms.
I'm sorry if anyone else has or is going through this, sending lots of love❤️

Hi I have just been informed I have also had a partial molar pregnancy following a D&C 4 weeks ago. I also didn’t have extreme symptoms during my pregnancy.

Im very worried about the next steps in terms of monitoring HCG. I still have very faint positive pregnancy tests. How have things gone for you since you posted? ❤️

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss and for this devastating news of a partial molar. I know how scary and uncertain this time can be. Please just feel all you need to feel and be gentle with yourself.
I found it particularly difficult that I knew no one who had been through it, and found it hard to find good information online. And of course the huge range of emotions and fears that comes with it.

My follow up involved beta HCGs once a week every week until the HCG became less than 5. And then I had to wait one further month to confirm it hadn't increased again. I suppose you could say I was one of the 'lucky' ones as my HCG normalised in 2 months, and remained normal one month later so 3 months total.

The fact that your pregnancy tests are only faint is probably a good sign. With molar pregnancies they expect your HCG to be super high! I think it's a better outcome when you end up needing a D&C because they remove the majority of the tissue, as opposed to a medically managed miscarriage where it's slower and the molar tissue has more time to continue growing.

Have you been linked with a specialised gestational trophoblastic disease centre? I'm in Ireland and there is one centre in the country where my blood results were sent each week. A midwife specialist would then call me to discuss and confirm plan going forward. They were a wealth of knowledge and could answer any questions I had.

It had taken 18 months to conceive the first time so while I was desperate to become pregnant again, I was also terrified of it happening again. We did decide to start trying again as soon as I got the all clear. It took 3 months and now I'm happy to say I'm 20 weeks pregnant. The fear from the molar pregnancy did affect me a lot during this pregnancy. I was offered a number of early scans but told they really couldn't tell that it was a normal pregnancy until they could examine the placenta after 12 weeks. Even though each scan gave great reassurance and the baby was growing well (which wouldn't really happen in a molar) I still couldn't bring myself to believe that all was OK until the second trimester.

If you would ever like to private message me please do not hesitate! I may not have all the answers but if you ever need to chat to me I'm more than happy.

Wishing you healing and all the best for the future x
