D&C yesterday and no bleeding sore when I move

Hi
ended up having a D&C yesterday as the tablets (took ten while in hospital to start it) didn’t work.

my question is
is it normal to have just spotting after it? Thought it would be heavy not that I’m complaining just scared something is wrong. Also I’m really sore when I move like standing up walking and sitting is that normal? Any advice would be appreciated 💔

Sorry I've never had one but I hope someone comes along soon and answers you're questions.

Send love and hope you feel better soon Flowers

Might be best to report your own post and get it moved to Pregnancy Choices.

@ComputerWifeKaren it wasn’t a choice I had a MMC

I’ve had 2 d&cs. Different doctors.

First - major bleeding afterwards. Far more than I expected. Seriously crappy (and negligent) nursing care afterwards. The doctor said ‘well, you can always try again’. I have refused to ever go to that hospital again. It is the reason I went private for medical care afterwards.

Second - no bleeding, just light spotting. Major aches and pains which the doctor said at follow up was a result of anaesthesia.

I was much happier and more confident in the second doctor than the first.

It has just occurred to me - first time around, lovely admitting nurse, frankly evil aftercare. Second time around, evil admitting nurse, awesome aftercare.

Sorry you are going through this. Hard enough with a MMC. Unfortunately I don't have the answers for you but bumping in the hope someone else sees who does. Take care

TheShellBeach · 28/04/2023 01:23

Hi OP.
I've had three done.
Light spotting is normal and so is the soreness you're feeling.
It gets better after about four days.

Sleepwhatsthazzz · 28/04/2023 01:25

I just read on the John Hopkins page that it is normal to have some spotting or light period after the procedure and you can experience cramping. So it sounds like what is happening is within normal. Not medical and no experience so if you are worried please do seek advice.

@DifficultBloodyWoman Im so sorry you went through that it’s heartbreaking enough never mind getting treated like that 😢♥️ Thank you for your reply ♥️

@TheShellBeach So sorry that’s absolutely heartbreaking 💔 😢 Thank you for your reply I’ve just read so much on Google ( I know bad idea) you should expect heavy bleeding and not that I’m complaining I was just worried something was wrong that I didn’t 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Unicorn2023 I was a bit caught up in my own experience in my post (still affected by it) and I wasn’t as helpful as I should have been, sorry.

I was concerned about the lack of bleeding because I was worried about Ashermans and thought that it might indicate an overzealous procedure and scarring. That wasn’t the case - I had a very competent doctor who knew what she was doing. Basically, a carefully executed procedure rather than half arsed at the other hospital.

She said that the aches and pains were primarily a result of the anaesthesia as I had been under for quite a while. That wore off three or four days afterwards. I didn’t have any other issues.

I’d suggest drinking lots of water to flush your body out along with rest.

Surgery on top of a MMC is a horrid thing to go through. I hope you feel better soon. 💐

I really apologise, I didn't realise. I’m so sorry OP Flowers Hope you get the advice you need here.

I'm so sorry, OP. What a traumatising experience, hope you are taking it easy. I haven't had a D&C but the regular pill-induced and had a lot of bleeding in the days following which slowed down over 2 weeks-ish and cramps. Obviously nowhere near as invasive but I was shocked at the amount of blood and pain afterwards.

Pollywoddles · 28/04/2023 03:16

I’ve had 2 as well for MMCs. The first one, no bleeding at all after. I had a few days of light bleeding after the second. I was prescribed pain meds after both, alternating Paracetamol and Difene, we’re you not told to take something?

Pollywoddles · 28/04/2023 03:17

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 28/04/2023 05:33

The bleeding does tend to be light or spotting as they do a good clear out. It can be heavier again if you over do it a bit - I went a run about 2 weeks after MMC ERPC and had loads of bleeding (was a silly thing to do but I just wanted to feel normal!).

I hope you have a contact for follow up for if pain gets worse or you have any infection symptoms? Wishing you all the best x

Unicorn2023 · 28/04/2023 09:46

@Allosaur I’m so sorry for your loss 💔 it’s horrific any of us have to go through this 😢 sending you love and hugs 🤗♥️

@Pollywoddles I’m so sorry for you went through this 💔 I was being given paracetamol and Dihydrocodeine in hospital and that really helped but I got out at 10pm and I was so glad to be getting out I forgot to ask for Dihydrocodeine to take home with me but I phoned the doctor yesterday to get stronger pain killers because paracetamol isn’t touching it x
