Medical vs Surgical Abortion at 8 weeks? Which one is safe and easy to recover?

Hi everyone,

I am about to complete 8 weeks of pregnancy and have pregnancy abort due to no yolk sac seen at 7 week ultrasound.

Also, HCG count has decreased in blood test. Need to understand which abortion is more safe and easy to recover?
Please help. Have very less family support and 3 year old kid at home.

Emotionally very devastated. It was a planned pregnancy and no signs of misscarriage( bleeding/ craming) 😟

I hope you're okay, I'm in a similar boat. Went for a scan at 7+2 and found no baby, no fetal pole and an oversized yolk sac (too large to be viable).

I have to wait 2 weeks for a follow up appointment for a rescan if I don't pass naturally between now and then. I would then face the same decision as you at 9+2 weeks.

I've spoken to close friends who have experienced this and they say to go for the surgical route. They had experience with both medical and surgical and said the medical was much harder on them. I have a 12 month old so much like you I need to be able to recover quickly.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had to have surgical management after a mmc after medical management failed. The prospect of this was scary but less traumatic and painful once it was over. I would definitely recommend the surgical option, it was much quicker to recover from. Take care of yourself x

Hello

so sorry to hear of your loss. I would also personally go for surgical. It gives you a chance to move on physically quicker than a medical. Also my medical failed and you have to wait at least another week for them to confirm it has. Xx
