Recurrent miscarriages

Hi Ladies

Hoping you can help support me or give me some advise. I have a happy healthy 3 yr old boy, we got pregnant first time and had no issues throughout pregnacy.
However we started 1 year ago to have our second, and first time again we fell pregnant, but we lost it at 10 weeks ( never grew past 6 weeks ) and while it was hard, I didn't have many symptom's and things never felt right.
I fell pregnant again in July and everything seemed great. I had an early scan at 7 weeks and lovely heartbeat and then again at 9 weeks all was well. I felt terrible and had no reason to be concerned. then just before 12 weeks I started bleeding and miscarried. However it was incomplete and I had a D&C over 2 months later. This one broke me Physically and Mentally.
I then went for multiple tests, Clotting, AMH, Scans and other than having MTHFRA gene all was fine. My husband Sperm has low % of the right shape but very high everything else so they were not concerend.

We felt ready to try again and fell pregnant in Dec. First scan all good at 7+3 days but my symptom's stopped at 8 weeks and a subsequent scan showed we have miscarried again. ( i was on low dose Asprin and high folic )

ADVISE please, are they are anymore tests? we are thankfully in a position we could afford IVF with genetic testing. has anyone done this? I am just so worried if we do and if its not genetic. we will just miscarry again and it will be even harder to cope with.

Anyone been through this?

thanks

Hi OP sorry for what you’ve had to deal with. I’ve had two miscarriages in the last 6 months and have no children. I am considering IVF with PGT A testing as nearly 37 and feel like I’m running out of time / don’t know why I am miscarrying - it’s so emotionally awful and I’m so scared about the future. Don’t have direct experience but potentially will be going through the same thing too. I hope we get good news soon. Xx

I'm so sorry you're going through this, shit isn't it. Have you listened to The worst girl gang ever podcasts? These helped me through my recurrent miscarriage time.
Like you I had a simple pregnancy with my first followed by 3 miscarriages. We decided to just try again with progesterone & low dose aspirin and my next pregnancy was successful. Possibly it was the progesterone or perhaps I'd just been incredibly unlucky.
I hope everything works out for you which ever way you decide to go.

I am keeping everything crossed. After reading some comments on another feed I have got an appointment with Professor Jan Bosen this month and am going to pay for there Digital Endometrium test. It may show nothing but then I think I will feel better that I have crossed everything off and then know my options. Congratulations on you're second. :)

We're in a similar position with a living son and two missed miscarriages following him and are currently trying to decide whether to try for another few months or go for IVF right away. It's a really hard decision and we have the same worries about what happens if it's actually me and not a random genetic issue.

I don't think I could face another roll of the dice pregnancy in case we lost that one or had to terminate for whatever genetic reason.

Its so hard to know what to do and what is right. I know this sounds weird but I was so adamant I would have some control if we lost a third that I had a scan weekly and so while mentally it hurt the same, I didn't have the what if time and I went for a D&C straight away so physically the process has seemed "better" this time if that makes sense?
With the Coventry hospital you can get referred after 2 miscarriages ( go onto Tommy's they have the criteria )

Might be worth having a look? Or you can self refer but this test I am having is £700 ( although alot cheaper than IVF if we go down that route ) :)

@MeganBistram I don't qualify for any further tests on the NHS as you have to have three miscarriages to be classed as recurrent in my area (which sucks). I paid for my own thyroid test which was normal bar low vitamin d which I'm self correcting and sky high iron reserves) and will have to look into tests for sticky blood. We're with Kings Fertility in Denmark Hill London. Hopefully they might be able to do those blood tests for me.

you might have to travel but this is the criteria for the Coventry clinic ( I think because its a Tommy's funded one :

"Your GP will need to refer you via the NHS e-Referral service (often called the ‘choose & book’ system) if you meet the following criteria:
you have had 2 or more miscarriages
1 or more late miscarriages
Any Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland referrals need to be agreed and funded by local GP and can be sent in post."

I didn't know either until I had my third miscarriage and did some more investigating. But with the Choose and book you can choose Coventry. Hope this helps.

xx

I realise this is an old thread but wanted to share a positive story of going to Coventry to see Prof Quenby/Brosens. I had my daughter first time in their protocol after diagnosis of high NK cells after 4 MC. There are a group of us who are still friends after meeting on the ‘pred threads’ here 10 years ago and the final one of our gang is about to have her rainbow baby. Such a tough road to walk but there are some amazing women to walk alongside you. Good luck!

As an update to my story we went down the IVF route but had a chemical pregnancy We paid for another FET round but got pregnant naturally in between and I'm now 16 weeks :)

Only changes were daily vitamin D (since Jan) and progesterone pessaries from 3dpo.
