Partial molar pregnancy?

Hi all, just following up. Last week it was confirmed at my 12 week ultrasound that I had a missed miscarriage. Baby stopped growing around 9 weeks. They could see some lining of blood so said they would send off for tests to see if this is a partial molar pregnancy. I have been back today a week later for a follow up scan. They have said they can still see a lining of blood tissue (can't remember exact wording) and said last week my bloods should have been taken to check my hcg levels which they weren't. Today they sent me for bloods then rang later and said they're still waiting for the results however to go back next Thursday for a scan with the consultant. At this point she said they're not concerned that it's a molar pregnancy but it just feels like I'm in limbo for another week now.
If it's normal tissue she said it will just come away by itself but if irs a partial molar then surgery will be needed.
Has anyone been in a similar situation before? I have one healthy child but this is my second back to back miscarriage this year.
Thanks for reading

So sorry for your loss. I had a partial molar pregnancy but it was around 18 years ago now. It was discovered around 17 weeks when there was no heartbeat at a routine midwife appointment. There had been a heartbeat at my 12 week scan, although I was later told that it should have been picked up at this point that placenta wasn’t right. I had to have a D&C for removal and then had to send urine samples to a specialist hospital in Sheffield for 12 months afterwards. Weekly at first, then fortnightly and eventually monthly. I was told not to get pregnant during this time. I’ve since had two further pregnancies, both normal, I had early scans at 6 weeks to check the placenta.

Happy to answer any further questions.

@FawnFrenchieMum thank you so much for commenting. I'm so sorry to hear you have experienced this, it must have been even more devastating at 17 weeks too!
I had the surgery last week to remove the foetus but I think it's more the unknown of whether it is a partial molar or not. If not I wonder when the tissue will come away potentially when I have my first period. They've not really said much about it all to be honest x

I don’t think they will risk leaving any tissue inside if it is a partial molar as there is a risk of it turning cancerous. This is why they had to test samples for the 12 months after to make sure there were no dangerous cells.

@FawnFrenchieMum thank you for explaining. I might give them a ring tomorrow to see if my bloods have come back. Really just want this over with Sad

Yes I would, the unknown waiting around part is the worst. You can’t fully move on.
I had an early MC just before the PM pregnancy and my HGC levels took an abnormally long time to go back to normal, they scanned to check for ectopic etc but didn’t find anything. I’m think that may have potentially also been something to do with it and missed.
If yours does turn out to be a PM you will be referred to a specialist hospital for follow up. There is only about three in country but it was all done by post / phone. I didn’t actually have to go to the clinics.

@FawnFrenchieMum I have just rang the EPU for an update on my blood results. They said they are 144 which is meant to be low, so said it doesn't look likely that it's a MP so I guess this is good news! Just need to wait for my next appointment next week, hopefully whatever tissue it is will remove itself x
