Partner no longer wants a baby

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. My partner has kids from a previous relationship. pre-teens. Really good kids and we all get on really well. I fell pregnant with my partner a few months back but had a very early miscarriage (late period tested positive then bleed a few days later) I was devastated and although baby wasn’t planned he/she would have been so wanted and loved. Fast forward a few months later and DP was a bit stand offish with me. I asked him what was going on and he stated he felt I wanted everything now. All I’ve said in the past is your typical day dreaming stuff such as baby names for the future but not once hinted I want a baby immediately in fact it’s probably more like 3 years plus as I have work commitments for the next few years an in honesty I’d rather be married first. When I explained this he then told me he no longer wants anymore children. This obviously upset me a lot and after digging deeper he explained that the miscarriage has really knocked him and he is happy with the kids he has got now. Has anyone experienced this before, if so how did you move forward from it?

If children are a must for you, find someone else, don't bother trying to change his mind.

Thank you. I did think this and I did say this to him but then my heart hurt so much and I know it sounds stupid but the pain of losing him was much greater than the desire to want a baby. As I said I’d be a few years off having a baby yet anyway so I don’t know whether to ride it out and see how I feel as apart from this he’s the ideal partner and I could also meet someone else, fall in love, marry then their infertile it doesn’t mean I’d leave etc. My head is just scrambled at the moment but thank you for the advice

You sound like you want dc of your own. He won’t change his mind, but you’ll probably waste your time with him and then it’ll be too late, you’ll be too old.
Maybe have a rethink in what you want from life, not what’s happening now.

Thank you. I think an honest open chat is needed!
