A while ago some of us wrote letters to our MPs complaining that women who miscarried where on wards with ladies who had had their babies or were in labour.

I have had a reponse today. This is what it says:

"Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact my constituency office and I am grateful for the opportunity to respond to the concerns you have raised.

In your email you express disaffection and disappointment with the service available for someone unfortunate to miscarry their unborn baby.

I recognise that a miscarriage can be a very unhappy, frightening and lonely experience. When people affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy, whether recently or long ago, it is the duty of the health service to offer support, information and comfort.

I am concerned that you feel that the current procedures are inadequate - even cruel, and I will bring this to the attention of the appropriate authority.

I can therefore confirm that I have written to the Chief Executive of Medway Maritime Hospital and asked that your concerns be investigated and if any steps can be taken to alieviate the problems you have described within your email.

As soon as I receive a reply I will naturally send it to you."

He also encloses the letter he has sent to the hospital and he has worded it very well.

Well done for writing, Nab - hope you get a response from the hospital. Was he pretty forceful in his letter to them?

He was quite adamant he wanted the situation investigated.

When I gave birth to my first ds he only lived for two hours, to be fair i was given a private room after but it was in the middle of the ward.. so i could hear all the cryin babies which was very hard. The staff were very kind though and i went back to the same ward for second ds and was warmly welcomed,

Am glad to see that some one has taken action on this.
When I was about 20 I miscarried and they put me in a bed next to a pregnant woman who claimed to be in severe pain and kept wanting stronger pain killers as she(to use her own words,I can't forget them)
"...don't care if the f'ing thing dies just give me something"
I later discovered that she had nothing wrong bah a few braxton hicks and the baby once in a while pushing up into ribs which we all have while preg.
My Cousin had a stillborn baby at 29 weeks yesterday and thankfully she was put in a room seperately and specially created for the purpose.
The sooner all hospitals have this the better.
Well done all who wrote

(I can't believe that that this letter had to be written. What kind of idiots run the hospital?)
