Swimming in river / pool and having sex - when ok after miscarriage?

I miscarried on 30 June and stopped bleeding on Wednesday 7 July. I just have white discharge now, no idea if related to miscarriage. I was 6.5 weeks.

Just wondering what people think about swimming in river / pool and having sex? It's been a few days now since I stopped bleeding. No pain anymore.

It's such beautiful weather this week and I felt would like to swim. The internet seems to have conflicting advice. What do we think? X

I would use the same sense as a period use the right items for your flow.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

With a period I would swim as soon as I've stopped bleeding so do you mean you think it would be fine? X

If you are feeling well, I would do it.

Sorry for your loss OP.

Basically you have a tiny wound where the embryo implanted in your uterus, so there is a risk of infection until it heals. I would swim in salt water maybe but not fresh/stagnant water as risk of nasties higher.

It’s a personal choice of risk vs reward. I waited a couple of weeks to have baths after miscarrying because the last thing I wanted was a uterine infection that could impact ttc. See endometritis, etc.

The same principle applies after egg retrieval in IVF as they pierce the uterine wall to get to ovaries. The medical advice then is no baths or swimming until your withdrawal bleed (usually 1-2 weeks).
