How long did you take off work for a miscarriage?

My work are being very supportive about taking my time but I just want to go back as soon as I can and am physically able, maybe just take a week off while I have medical management (MMC at 11 weeks).

I worry they'll think it's too soon and that I'll be a wteck but I tend to experience very delayed grief and emotions from difficult situations. My first pregnancy loss didn't hit me properly until 4 months later and when it did, I was equipped to cope with my emotions and process them.

How long did people take when it happened to them?

When my first IVF pregnancy resulted in MC I had a couple of weeks off.
by the time I’d lost the 4th I didn’t take any time off.

I had a miscarriage recently and I was signed off for 3 weeks and then I booked a week of holiday, which happened to correspond with Easter, so it was a little over 4 weeks in total.

It was my first pregnancy and we thought we were safely into our second trimester after a healthy 12 week scan / tests. I’m still not coping very well with it, but I was ready to go back to work and had already started to dip back into things for the distraction.

I had the opposite experience, I had a miscarriage which started on a Wednesday night and had to be back at work on Saturday.
It was a long painful traumatic process and I took a further two days off 6 weeks later as the final bleed happened but it was made clear I was thought badly of for taking those 2 days.
So in total, 4 days but only 2 when I initially started miscarrying.

If I had the option I would have taken a fair bit longer off - let your body heal and your mind manage x

Sorry for your loss.

First was a total shock and had 2 weeks off as I did know pregnant.

Second was a mmc at 12 weeks - awful and I had 6 weeks off as I had retained products after medical management and an horrific bleed three weeks later. Severely anaemic and looked like death.

Last one I had surgical management and had a 4 days off. I'd had two weeks of knowing things weren't going right but needed more time to confirm. Then I'd arranged to go back for an scan at 8am and bill by mouth to say for surgery if I needed it. Drive myself and husband picked me and my car up and drove me home at 6pm. Went back.

Go back when you feel ready Flowers

I did my medical management on a Wednesday and went back to work on the following Tuesday. It was a B/H weekend though so I technically only took 3 sick days. I probably would have been back on the Monday in a normal week but it was good having that extra day to rest. I also had 2 days off when I first found out it was a MMC.

Don’t feel pressured into taking any more or less time than you need x

i miscarried whilst on a pre-planned holiday, had it confirmed on monday and back to work tuesday. now, 3 weeks on, it's hit me mentally and i'm wondering about taking a day off to settle myself.

Thanks for your comments. I had medical mangement yesterday and thinking of going back next week. It took 12 hours in hospital and I found it quite hard physically and emotionally but now I'm back home almost as if nothing happened, walking the dog, ordering Chinese takeaway, off to have hair cut.

The loss hasn't really hit me yet tbh, it probably wont do for a few weeks or months as I tend to take a while. My ectopic last year hit me 4 months later.

I took 2-3 weeks. I worked for a large blue chip company at the time and they were very kind and understanding about it.

Smaller companies may just give you a couple of days off.
