Third miscarriage in a row. Need recommendations.

I've just experienced my third miscarriage in less than a year.

I was referred to gynaecology in Janaury after my second miscarriage. They are still booking in people from last year so I still haven't been seen.

EPU also referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic and I still haven't heard from them either.

I have a 4 year old and the pregnancy had no issues, so I have no idea what's wrong now.

I have had bloods done which indicates pcos. My cycle is regular and no issues.

I'm now looking to go private because I just can't keep going through this. Can anyone recommend a private fertility specialist in the North West that run tests and treat if a cause Is found.

I would really appreciate it.

Sorry cant help with the clinic situation

Have you got a thyroid issue?
If not, get it checked out asap

How old are you and your partner?

I had three miscarriages in 13 months. Partner has 2 previous kids and I have 1, no issues. I was 32 when we started trying and him 37.

For both of us they tested karotyping.

For him, sperm analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation, and just general blood work.

For me, an HCG test to check my uterine cavity, tests for thyroid, clotting, hormone levels, AMH, anticardiolipins.

We also were able to test the third fetus.

I'm now moving onto IVF with genetic testing of any embryos because they don't have any real answers and I want to reduce the chance of a fourth miscarriage.

Most of them were ordered by my GP not a fertility specialist, if that helps.

My GP just keeps referring me to gynaecology and are being quite unhelpful.

My sister is currently pregnant on her second round of IVF as the first round resulted in a miscarriage she had testing done and she has a thyroid disorder. If it helps we are triplets and I don't know if the thyroid thing could possibly be genetic.

I'm 29 and my partner is 32.

They won't test your thyroid even? That's pretty basic blood work. Can you point it out as unrelated to your miscarriage - ie my triplet has this issue and her GP recommended me and the other triplet get it checked out? Thyroid issues was the very first thing they checked me for. Also put me on baby aspirin for each pregnancy though that didn't make a difference for me.

And yes, thyroid issues can be genetic.

So sorry to hear you are going through this awful time. I had 2 miscarriages and it is horrible how alone you feel after. But I did have my son the year after. I have read that it is often low progesterone that can cause miscarriages. Hope you get the help that you need and you have someone to talk to also.

I had my third miscarriage in February. I went private with tests because they said I'd be waiting at least 9 months for the RMC to even get in touch about booking an appointment. I've had most of the tests and the cost came to about £1500 in total so not as expensive as I first thought.

We didn't find anything other than slight polycystic ovaries. Not enough to put me on medication but was advised I could take myo inositol. I have also read It Starts with an Egg and am taking all of the vitamins suggested in there for recurrent miscarriage. We are hoping to get another BFP soon as it has been 3 months since starting the vitamins and I've also been eating a lot healthier which has resulted in me losing about a stone. Recon I still have another stone to lose but feeling much better about myself.

Definitely try and push for you thyroid checked though by your GP as that seems like a good starting point!
