Hi I had a chemical pregnancy when I first conceived a year ago. The second time I conceived it ended in a miscarriage again. Since I'm new to this, I wanted to ask is light bleeding like a period normal for an early miscarriage. My ultrasound showed a 4 week sac at 6 weeks and I started bleeding at 8 weeks (currently day 2nd of bleeding)

Hi @sabat,

I'm so sorry for your losses and that you are going through this. I am no medical professional and didn't want to read and run. I am currently miscarrying at 5weeks and it started with light bleeding (didn't go on to pad, only when wiping) for two days. Now I am having a proper period like bleed which has lasted three days so far. Perhaps yours will also get heavier in time?
You can always call Early Pregnancy Unit if you are concerned and see what they say (if you haven't already).

Sending love, take care! x

Hi @flamingal thank you for answering. So sorry of what you are going through..mentally and physically. Lots of hugs. Is this your first pregnancy? I am bleeding like I bleed on my period..which I think is normal. I'm going to check in with my gynaecologist after a week to see if the ultrasound is clear. It seems like early pregnancy miscarriage is similar to a period then. I was a bit afraid that I'll see the sac coming but I think a 1.5 inch sac is too small to see.

This is my second pregnancy. Sadly I had a missed miscarriage in October last year which I only found out about at private ultrasound at 7w4d and had to use medical management last time. I think the nurse told me that usually the sac etc will start to break down in most cases so it won't likely come out whole. She did say if there was any extreme pain to call hospital in case anything gets stuck whilst passing through cervix but that is rare. Last time I managed on ibuprofen and paracetamol to manage pain. This time pain has been less severe, a bit more persistent than usual period pain but less than when I had medical management. I imagine because it is a bit earlier and happening naturally. Hope you are as okay as you can be in this situation and that you have a support system around you.
