Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks pregnant

Good evening! It has been a long time I hadn’t post it...
So, I have got recurrent miscarriages, 1 succesful pregnancy and now another miscarriage again. I had my first scan at 8 weeks and they told me that embryo looks smaller, it’s a heartbeat. They schedule for another scan the next week, when the heartbeat has stopped. Nurses proposed the option of abortion, but I was shocked and terrified. For the moment I choosed to have natural one. But nothing is happening so far. Just some crampings. I never have got a surgery, and I am affraid. Anyone the same experience? Thanks.

Hi sorry to hear about your loss. I had missed miscarriage around 9 weeks too. I opted for surgery as my body wasn't recognising. Please don't consider this an abortion. It is simple helping your body to move forward. It is day surgery and you are only asleep for a short while. I found it the most suitable for me as the alternative was for medical management (take drugs to force miscarriage) but due to my medical issues still may have needed surgery after anyway. You can ring your epu at any time if you decide natural isn't for you or not happening. Wish you all the best.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm also going through a missed miscarriage at the moment. Scanned at 9 weeks and baby had no heartbeat and only measuring at 7 weeks. This is my second miscarriage and and I've opted for surgical management as I didn't like the idea of being at home and having to cope with passing tissue etc and getting upset.

My first surgical procedure was slightly different in that I was given general anaesthetic- this was a day surgery and I was lucky to have quite a quick recovery . It wasn't painful - just a bit uncomfortable for a day or 2.

I'm now booked in for surgery again tomorrow but this time it will be a local anaesthetic due to Covid . I believe it's that same procedure and I was told the actual surgery shouldn't take any longer than 20 minutes.

Whatever option you choose please remember that this is not your fault. And don't go through this alone - speak to your partner , friends or is here on MN.

Take care

Good luck @Poppy101010!
This is my 5-th miscarriage, but the other one happened so early and quickly. This time is different and I live far from my family, I do not want to worry them 🥲

Life can be so cruel sometimes. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow - but the first operation I had was not scary at all. The nurses and doctors were really caring and I was able to get home the same day and move on with things. In the meantime , I'll be thinking of you. 🌸

Hi @julia02 - was quite upset and anxious this morning. Got to hospital and they decided to do the procedure under general as pregnancy tissue is close to my Fallopian tube. So still here and surgery booked for tomorrow. Feeling less anxious as I will be asleep through it all.

How are u keeping ? Have you had any more thoughts on what u might do ? X

@Poppy101010
Hope everything will be fine for you!
I got some crampings and a grey discharge a couple of minutes ago. If the grey discharge will be again, I think I’m going to contact hospital. Good luck to you, dear!

Hi everyone,

So sorry for your losses.

I am also experiencing the same :(

I went for my 12 weeks scan last Friday and was told the baby was measuring at seven weeks and they couldn't find a heartbeat. I was referred to EPU and they have me booked in for next Monday for another scan to confirm. They will then discuss my options.

If baby stopped growing at seven weeks then that's 5 weeks where I didn't miscarry naturally. What are the chances that it will happen naturally?

What are the best and safest options? I'm soo worried. I had a chemical pregnancy in September and now this. :(

Xx

Sorry to hear @Beautyangel1! I decided to wait to happen naturally, and 6 days after confirming no heartbeat the miscarriage start naturally. Each way has its benefits and side effects, but you choose in the end.
It wasn’t easy for me to wait 6 days. Stressful and painful days, but now I hope that everything will be out naturally and no need for any surgery.

Be strong!
