What do we all think of the news today ( which isn't actually the first time it's ever been suggested ) that women at a higher risk of MC could be offered hormone drug ( progesterone) ...?

Is this good?
Will we only be offered in certain areas?
How do we ask to be part of this 'trail'?
Has anyone had it? ( as recurring MC care)

After two MMC and a fear of more getting worse and worse .... this has made me sit up a bit and wonder what I can do to help myself if this is rolled out ...?

I'm sorry about your losses Thanks

I was over the moon to see it - after 3 early miscarriages, the idea that there might be something that I can take to potentially help feels fantastic.

I'm assuming GPs should be able to prescribe, once a woman is pregnant (following a previous loss)? I did email the miscarriage association but the reply was a bit vague as to how to actually get it.

I found these today on Instagram and with my situation being MMC I don't know how helpful it is UNLESS I'm given it from the off which sounds like I need to fight for it

It won't let me upload any photos 😖

The basics are that confirmed heartbeat with vaginal bleeding and no history would be advised to return for further assessment if it it gets worse or persists beyond 14 days
If bleeding stops to call antenatal care

Offer vaginal micronised progesterone 400mg twice daily to women with a pregnancy confirmed by scan if they have vaginal bleeding and have previously had a miscarriage

If feral heartbeat is confirmed continue progesterone until 16 weeks

But these are guidelines only and we would need to ask for to refer us to a consultant
The consultant may then follow guidelines closely or choose to give it regardless of bleeding ( which I might push for if GP doesn't do it)

Each GP has their own protocol and we have a right to ask for a second opinion if not happy about the treatment or plan

I see what you mean - I feel similarly, and my losses were early enough that waiting for a scan would've meant they were already over. So progesterone wouldn't help me under these guidelines. But I agree with you, I wonder if taking progesterone before bleeding would help?

I wish you luck, it's all so much harder than I realised, trying to have a baby!

@KronPrinzessinKarla wish you luck too. It's a whole other world isn't it?
