Can I have a bath during my miscarriage?

I chose medical management and administered the second half of the treatment on Saturday morning. The pain I have been in over the weekend has been unbearable, I haven’t managed to stand long enough to get a shower or any kind of thorough wash so quite frankly I stink, I’ve tried googling it but with no avail! So I’m on day 3 now, mild cramps, still a LOT of blood but little to no clotting today, is it safe for me to have a warm bath? Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance x

I think it would be fine. You poor thing. Anyone with you just to help you in and out? I am so sorry. This must be horrible. Are you in touch with anyone about the pain? If not I would call 111. You should surely not have to suffer like this. BrewFlowers

No can cause infection

It’s definitely ok to get a bath. Do you have someone else in the house while you’re having it? Just in case you feel light headed or anything. Drink plenty of water. I hope some easier days are coming for you soon Flowers

I wouldn’t, I honestly don’t know but if you are bleeding I wouldn’t think it a good idea. Just fill the sink and have a wash from the waist up, deodorant, clean underwear. Take some paracetamol.

I’m so sorry, I hope someone will be along soon with better advice Flowers

I did - I had a hot one as it helped with the pain. I don’t know if it is advised or not - but I had no ill effect from it. Flowers

I did when I had a miscarriage. The hot water helped the cramps.

NewLifePending · 30/08/2021 20:24

Yes you can, just not too hot x

Can you contact EPU or a day ward at all?

I had medical management but I was a day patient. I was in so much pain and eventually they found that my baby was sitting at the top of my cervix and I was unable to pass it on my own. The pain was so utterly completely unbearable. I was being really sick as well.

Is anyone at home with you Op?

EvilEdna1 · 30/08/2021 20:33

Yes you can. To be on the safe side don't add anything to the bath water.

I think you should ring 111 and ask instead of asking people on Mumsnet I have been told in the past that you shouldn't
