Hi all,
I have an appointment in a couple of weeks at the recurrent miscarriage clinic. For those who have been - what do they test for? Is it just blood test or do they scan also? Also do they have said partner should come, do they test him too??

Thanks xx

Hey. I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering the same thing. Have you been yet? What did they test / say / do etc? Was it just you or your partner too? Hope you got some answers xx

They normally do some blood work to test for any clotting disorders/antibodies. They may also send some bloods for genetic analysis. Women with Lupus tend to have a higher risk of miscarriage therefore testing for lupus is the normally the first set of tests.

Thank you that's very helpful to know

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, I am interested in the mechanics of the recurrent miscarriage clinic too. I've had the 3 miscarriages, EPAS said they would write to my GP to ask them to refer me, I had an appointment with the GP where they didn't seem aware of what services existed, and said he would order some blood tests (thyroid etc), recommended I lost some weight and he would have a look at what referral could be made. Is this normal? I was rather hoping just to get a direct referral to the miscarriage clinic, this seems rather disconnected. Thanks

@Greymalkin12 no after 3 miscarriages you really need further tests (and qualify for them too). Have a look at your local
Hospital gynaecology department services and see what they provide, have a look on Tommy's website there might be a list ther. There are specific clinics in London Birmingham and Manchester but the first point really is local tests to rule out the most common causes of kiscsrriage such as undiagnosed clotting issues etc.

Deff call your Gp back but do a bit of searching to see what you can also find out. It's pretty poor that GP didn't know to be honest.
