2 losses, what can I do?

Hi all,

I've just had my second loss just over 4 weeks ago. It was my second pregnancy in 6 months, both have ended up with me in the hospital. I lost the first one naturally at 10 weeks (but measuring only 7 weeks) but had some pregnancy tissue remaining after two weeks and had an MVA to clear it, and we found I'd lost the second at an early scan at 9 weeks where they found a baby measuring 8+ weeks without heartbeat, and I decided to have an MVA straight away without delaying the process. When I was in the hospital I asked for a referral for further testing on the off chance the consultant would agree on account of my age (approaching 35) and the fact I've no children yet, but he didn't take me for any investigations yet, but prescribed cyclogest for my next pregnancy, saying there's no harm in trying it although evidence of it working for someone in my situation is weak.

Now I'm wondering if I could ask my GP for any basic tests that don't have to involve the miscarriage/fertility clinic?

I've also heard low dose aspirin is widely used to prevent recurrent miscarriage, is that safe to take if I haven't been diagnosed with a clotting disorder, or would they only advise it if a problem was found?

I'm currently taking Pregnacare Conception supplement, and an iron supplement that also contains folic acid and Vit-D but that will run out soon, I just wanted to protect my iron levels in the aftermath of all the blood loss from mc, but should I continue taking it for a little longer? Is there anything else anyone has found useful to take to support a healthy pregnancy?

Very sorry, it's very common and have been there myself too, many miscarriages but have two children now so be positive. I had my first at 36 (started TTC at 33) and second at 40.
I found from GP blood tests that my progesterone ws a bit low, so investigated and found agnus castus which I feel worked first me as I had t fallen pregnant for over a year, stated taking it and fell straight away, MMC unfortunately, but fell again straight away after miscarriage and she's now 12 years old.
I also found high concentrations of evening primrose oil helped me
Just look things up and see what seems to fit you, but also get to the GP too for some blood tests. Chances are it's just time you need though but getting help won't harm.
My obs consultant told me to take quarter aspirin and high concentration of folic acid which I did with all pregnancies
Good luck

Sorry for your losses, I have also had 2 miscarriages. My second one was last week and it took us over a year to get pregnant after my last miscarriage. It's so devastating that we can't get any help until after the 3rd. My doctor had told me to take a low dose of aspirin while ttc and keep it going when I get a positive test. I'm having my day 21 bloods done to test my progesterone to see if that needs supplementing too. Other then that it's just a waiting game now. Have you had your thyroid checked? That can cause early miscarriages (I have a thyroid issue but it's well managed, so it wasn't the cause of mine).

Thanks both. I haven't had any checks yet, but I did one of those home testing kits for blood markers in March and my thyroid hormone was well within the normal range, but I don't know if there could be an issue that wouldn't show in the hormones. Both my mum and sister have a thyroid problem though. I'll speak to the GP and see if I can get it checked.
