Uterine scarring following miscarriage - infertility

Hello
I'm not sure what to name this thread. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this?

I have had one child a few years back and had a miscarriage just before the 12 week scan last year. I had to have the D&C procedure to clear it all. Fast forward a few months, my periods never came back. When they started to check they diagnosed PCOS. All my bloods are fine.
Then a few months later I developed what I think is endometriosis only around the time of when my period would be.

I am now in with the fertility team and they have scanned me and said there is a lot of scar tissue at the entrance of my uterus. The initially doctor said he thinks he will get a positive outcome.

I've just had a hysteroscopy and the consultant thinks with the amount of scar tissue I have that is very likely they won't be able to operate and do anything so there is no chance of getting pregnant again. The operation she thinks I need is very rare and not many surgeons can perform it and if they did it might not be successful.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Is there anything you recommend to read or search? I'm now waiting for my follow up appointment. Just want to try and do my homework between now and then.

Hoping for some positive stories! 🤞
Thank your for reading!

Hi. I’m so sorry to read this. Unfortunately I cannot offer advice. I had a D&C at 16 weeks, my baby had died.

I am now trying to get pregnant again, it would have been my 3rd baby and I have always got pregnant first time. Now, nothing...

I’ve paid for a private trans-vaginal scan next week, wondering what will be found.

I hope you are okay, I am with you and I feel your pain. I’m sorry that’s all I can offer xxxx

Thank you for replying. I am so sorry for your losses, it's so incredibly sad.

I've actually done a bit of research and I am confident I have all of the symptoms of ashermans syndrome.

Have you got any other symptoms?

Best of luck for next week. X

My symptoms slightly different to yours - but all new to me from before the pregnancy and D&C.

My periods are heavier and longer and I can’t seem to conceive.

We’ve both got 2 children from previous marriages, so 4 times prior we’ve managed to conceive quickly.
Then the pregnancy we just lost, was a morning after pill fail (that’s how fertile I am!!!)

Now I just can’t pregnant again...🙁

I guess. I must be lucky to at least be having periods but every one feels like I’m loosing my baby again.

Stay strong until your follow up appointment
xxxx

Very similar story - I did find it harder to stay pregnant after my adhesiolysis (2 further miscarriages, and a very high risk pregnancy), but DS is now 4.

Sadly I ended up with further scarring after my c-section and after a further adhesiolysis the results weren’t great - I probably am infertile now. Though they are planning a second go. But don’t give up.

I had all of mine done as Guy’s on the NHS, and I would expect any decent-sized gynae department to be able to tackle it. Hysteroscopic surgery is way more common now than it used to be, and many younger gynaecologists will be perfectly happy doing it.

And yes I didn’t need IVF once the Asherman’s was fixed - fell pregnant very easily each time.

Thank you both. This is helpful and encouraging. I am not sure what all of the above means 🤦‍♀️ still working on all of the terms!

Great news about the London hospital. Time isn't on my side so the waiting list might not work, but let's see what the follow up app says. I will ask about it. All of this information is so useful and I'm putting my questions together. I do have one child which I am very lucky to have which I do really appreciate. I know I am in a much better situation than some. It will all work out if it is meant to. 🤞
Thank you x

I had a damaged uterus and lots of scaring due to a c section that went wrong. They managed to avoid a hysterectomy but told me I'd struggle to have more DC. My periods after were horrendous with huge clots. Took 2 years ttc when I fell with DC3, during the c section they carried out a repair. Periods have been much better and I fell pregnant with one try though it did end in miscarriage but I don't think because of my uterus.
