What do I do? Do I call my doctor?

5&4 yesterday. Evening time I went to toilet and there was blood on my underwear. Wiped and there was quite a lot of bright red blood. After that spotting for an hour or so and nothing g since.

No pain but I feel quite sure it’s a miscarriage. This pregnancy just felt different from my first from the beginning and I had a gut feeling (maybe sounds stupid).

Anyway, do I call anyone or wait this out?

@Justkeepswimming10 I'm so happy for you, what a relief it must have been to see that heart going. It's not helpful you have been messed about with your scan all that anxiety, but I'm so pleased it all came right in the end. I wish for the remainder of your pregnancy it's stress free x

@bages1977 I thought that too. To just assume a positive test now meant everything was fine seems wrong to me. Managed to book a private scan, unfortunately it’s not until Tuesday night. I wanted to wait until past 7 weeks in case getting a scan before that added extra uncertainty with HB etc. I’ll be 7&2 on Tuesday so we’ll see. I hope it gives me an answer one way or the other.

@Vebrithien thank you for sharing your experiences. You have a really wonderful outlook on it all. I’m very accepting of whatever scenario: if it doesn’t work out it wasn’t meant but it’s the waiting about and not knowing that I’m struggling with.

@Justkeepswimming10 I’m not sure the faintness of the line means much either unless it’s incredibly faint. It’s just me trying to find some kind of answer but driving myself crazy as I do it. Glad you had positive news today, so happy for you! But I get what you mean about not getting too excited yet.

It is hellish but whichever way it goes you carried a baby for a while. Just remember them if it goes wrong and know you were a mum to them. We still know so little about early losses. My mum said her gp told her when she had a miscarriage before every successful pregnancy that it was the body preparing itself. She had three children and four miscarriages. That helped me with my first miscarriage.

emeraldcity2000 · 06/05/2021 15:45

So sorry you are going through this. I've had one miscarriage and it's very tough waiting it out. Remember that the odds are very high that, even if this time is a miscarriage, you'll go onto have a successful pregnancy. Xxxx

Justkeepswimming10 · 06/05/2021 16:02

Thank you so much @SomeoneSomewhere1219 I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, please let us know how you get on, plenty of support waiting for you either way xx

And @xTinkerbell thank you and good luck for Tuesday, hope you can plan a few things to keep yourself busy over the weekend? As you say, at least you'll know either way and limbo will be over xx

@SomeoneSomewhere1219 , an ERPC is the Evacuation of the Retained Products of Conception. It is the surgery to remove and tissue not being naturally lost by miscarriage. It is similar to an D&C (dilation and curettage). An ERPC uses a very thin vacuum to remove the tissue, about the width of a pencil, through the cervix, whilst a D&C uses a small scoop to scrape out the tissue. The end result is the same, but an ERPC is rather more gentle of the lining of the womb, and has less of a risk of perforating the womb.

It is usually carried out under a general anaesthetic, and you have medication beforehand, to soften the cervix.

Thank you for your kind words. The last 5 years have been difficult ones, but I have two beautiful (snotty, messy, glorious) children at the end.

@Justkeepswimming10 Thank you. I had my scan today and although I am still in limbo I am slightly more positive than last week. Last weeks scan there was only a sac no sign of a baby and obviously no heartbeat. This week showed the sac has grown, there was a yolk, a fetal pole and baby... still no heartbeat but they think I implanted late as I'm measuring 5 weeks.
The scan also showed I've had a small haemorrhage below the sac which would explain all the bleeding, cramping and soreness. So now I need to wait until 17th May which will confirm if this is a viable pregnancy or not.

xTinkerbell · 07/05/2021 13:37

@SomeoneSomewhere1219 wow! That must have been a surprise for you but it’s definitely sounding positive. Keeping my fingers crossed for you on May 17th

Oh @SomeoneSomewhere1219 that is really positive news, and great to have the explanation for the bleeding so you know what that was all about. Sorry for the extended limbo, although really pleased for you that things are looking better than you'd expected. Wishing you an extremely fast 10 days and please keep us posted on the 17th, keeping everything crossed for you xx

SomeoneSomewhere1219 · 07/05/2021 22:25

Thank you both @xTinkerbell @Justkeepswimming10 I will just have to wait it out and hope for the best. My sickness is getting worse so I'm taking this as a positive sign.

Good Luck for Tuesday @xTinkerbell x

Justkeepswimming10 · 11/05/2021 20:06

How did you get on @xTinkerbell?

xTinkerbell · 11/05/2021 21:25

@Justkeepswimming10 all looking good. Measuring exactly 7 weeks and 2 days which was what my dates were. Little heartbeat to be seen. Still early so still cautious but positive so far.

She said she could see a little bit of bruising which from googling seems like subchoronic haematoma (I can’t spell that) but she said not something to be concerned about but get them to check on it at 12 week scan.

Ahhh, wonderful news Smile I'm so pleased for you! Yes I think that's what mine was described as and she said it was probably as a result of implantation bleeding. Fingers crossed for us all and the next load of waiting- a great start though Smile I hope you feel some relief xx

Justkeepswimming10 · 18/05/2021 17:41

How are you doing @SomeoneSomewhere1219? Did you manage to find any answers yesterday?

SomeoneSomewhere1219 · 18/05/2021 18:30

@xTinkerbell that's such great news. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is now stress free.

@Justkeepswimming10 Yes and unfortunately it wasn't good news. I'm booked in for surgery on Friday.

Justkeepswimming10 · 18/05/2021 20:08

I'm really sorry @SomeoneSomewhere1219 Sad I hope you have some support around you? I had surgery for an mmc in 2019, if you have any questions about it. Will be thinking of you Friday xx

SomeoneSomewhere1219 · 19/05/2021 16:12

Thank you @Justkeepswimming10 that's very kind. I do have a good support network and have accepted the outcome. I will be relieved when I'm not in limbo any more

Justkeepswimming10 · 19/05/2021 17:06

Glad to hear you have good support around you. Yes in a funny way I felt better after the surgery, a sort of relief from that stage being over. Good luck for Friday xx

xTinkerbell · 29/05/2021 22:08

@SomeoneSomewhere1219 I hope you’re doing okay
