Expectant management / waiting for natural miscarriage

What's the maximum time a missed miscarriage could take to happen naturally? I am struggling to find anything which gives me an idea.

On my last mmc I had failed medical management, followed by an MVA. The consultant said then there was no sign of my body trying to let go of anything and he suspected nothing would happen naturally for a "very long time".

I am once again in the position of having had an early mmc and wondering what to do. I really don't want to have another round of medical or surgical management but I equally don't want to be in this pregnant-not-pregnant limbo for months either. This is my 4th sequential early miscarriage and I'm feeling a bit exhausted.

I'd be grateful for any experiences or advice on natural management, please.

Hi @treesall I'm so sorry for your losses.

I have just had a MMC myself. Was discovered and confirmed at an early private 9 week scan, baby had stopped growing at 7+3. I miscarried at 11 weeks so it took a couple more weeks for my body to realise although I had been spotting since 6 and a half weeks. I decided to try expectant management at first and the epau would have contacted me after 2 weeks to start thinking about other options (medical because surgical not an option, cause covid).

I'm not sure if there is a maximum amount of time it can take, most things I found online said up to 4 weeks. But I know they don't like you to wait too long due to risk of infection. I actually miscarried naturally the day before I was booked in for medical management because I decided I just wanted it over and didn't like waiting.

It's a horrible situation and I'm so sorry you've been through it multiple times. I hope you come to a decision you're happy with and everything turns out as well as can be for you ♥️

@Madeoftea thank you for replying. I'm sorry you had to go through it too.

I think I will leave it until 4 weeks and then if still nothing is happening after that I might have to grudgingly accept trying some intervention again.
