Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had an injection for the placenta to be released after a loss in the 2nd trimester with medical management? Thanks

I had an injection to "speed up" the placenta coming out after a second trimester miscarriage.

Thank you, @Scirocco, that's incredibly helpful. I didn't despite asking for it, instead it was pulled out by an A&E consultant 4 hours later and resulted in retained product and lots of issues. So we want to feed it back to the hospital but wanted to make sure it is being given in the 2nd trimester first.

Sending virtual hugs. I had a bit of placenta get stuck in my cervix and it was really uncomfortable having it removed, so I dread to think how sore that must have been for you!

Thank you. It's actually resulted in an infection which turned into chronic inflammation of the lining of the womb which caused me 4 early miscarriages and was only detected because I'm lucky enough to take part in a clinical trial.

That's awful! I hope the trial works out for you.

When I had my miscarriage, I ended up writing a 7-page complaint letter to the hospital about how things were handled. It was really hard but I wanted to make sure nobody else went through what I did. In the end the hospital made some changes and apologised. I hope that the hospital you went to is able to change as well. 💐💐

@Scirocco thanks. That's great to hear that other people also feedback to the hospital and that I might not be overreacting by voicing what we've been through. That's exactly it, I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this.

hi
so sorry you are going through this. i had a miscarriage at 14 weeks ( in hospital) and didn’t have the injection. instead i had a massive haemorrhage and my body shutting down. it was grim. i should have had the injection. I was left needing support to cope with what happened and in my subsequent pregnancy had additional support from the midwives due to the dreadful treatment I had received. It’s good to give them feedback. i really hope it all works out for you.

Definite feed that back. I also think you may be able to request a review over what happened??? I'm so sorry that you've suffered so much.
