When to look into causes?

Hi there,

I'm just experiencing my second miscarriage. I also had a chemical pregnancy on the previous cycle before this one.

I had a child three years ago with no complications but all three pregnancies (all in the last 8 months) since have failed.

My first mc involved failed medical management and then the surgical procedure.

At what point should I give the gp a call? Will they even consider investigating anything since I have had a baby? Or do I just have to accept I'm not meant to have another baby?

Would very much appreciate any advice. Feeling pretty heartbroken and hopeless about it at the moment.

Thank you

Hey, sorry you're going through this too. I'm currently miscarrying at 10 weeks and miscarried at 7 weeks in August. At my scan I was told that the chemical pregnancy very much counts as a miscarriage and that would put me at 3 miscarriages. The nurse said I should make sure to call my GP and get referred ASAP. It's not so much for me to find out the cause as I know most recurrent miscarriage reasons are never figured out but more for the fact that I'll have extra support in my next pregnancy.
It's definitely worth ringing the GP! Good luck x

The NHS counts you as having recurrent miscarriage once you’ve had 3 in a row, and chemicals do count (though you need to make sure your GP knows about the chemical) and they should do investigations. Secondary infertility is a thing and some of the causes of miscarriage can arise after a successful pregnancy. I went private because the NHS tests didn’t find anything, was diagnosed with NK cells, had treatment with steroids and progesterone and had 2 healthy babies.

Thank you both very much. I guess I'll give the gp a call.
