Hi everyone,

This is probably going to be a bit of a long read so I apologise!

Me and my partner have been TTC for nearly 3 years now, the first year we had 1 confirmed pregnancy but sadly it didn’t get past 6 weeks, we had nothing again for about a year. We went to the GP and they have sent us both for fertility tests.. bloods, HSG, scans, sperm count etc etc, all of my results came back within normal range other than an inconclusive HSG which I’m currently waiting to rebook, partners first sperm count was slightly low but has since drastically improved. Currently over 3 years old TTC and In the past year we have had 4 pregnancies which never make it past 6 weeks.

As horrible as it is to keep going through the same thing, I try to have hope that eventually one will stick. It’s so heart wrenching and whenever I see that positive line I have a slight moment of joy followed by extreme anxiety wondering when the cramping and bleeding will start.

I was just wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation and managed to have a successful pregnancy or what was wrong?

Thank you for reading! Xx

Hey, I’m so sorry about your pregnancy losses 😩 I don’t have much info for you but I just wanted to say that I am in the same boat as you , I have had 5 miscarriage ending all between 5-6 weeks and cannot get past it . I have had my losses within 5 years , once every year ... I have had all blood tests done with all being normal , the only thing I have not had is the hsg test to check the uterus abnormalities which in my option can be the only cause now as everything else was okay ,,,

It’s horrible isn’t it, you feel like you can’t be excited when you get the positive test because your just dreading what comes next. No one explained what was inconclusive about the HSG just that they needed to repeat the test, when I had my coil out I was so naive into thinking it would happen straight the way because were both relatively healthy. I think it’s such a taboo subject as well, me and my partner have kept it relatively discreet as both of our parents would be over the moon and it’s hard enough to deal with your own emotions without worrying about upsetting other people. Got a faint positive this morning so fingers crossed again but the waves of anxiety are real! I hope everything goes well for you xx

I’m so sad at the moment and it’s not fair at all 😭😭 how can 5 miss carriages be bad luck ??? I really hope it works out for you this time but it’s so hard to be positive after so many losses 😞😞😞

I had 3 confirmed miscarriages before I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. They identified antiphospholipid syndrome, and with treatment I was able to have a successful pregnancy, with baby arriving exactly a year after my first appointment. Odds of a successful pregnancy without treatment for this was less than 1 in 5. You are right that 3 or more miscarriages indicates the likelihood of underlying cause so if you haven’t already been referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic please make sure this happens. So sorry for your losses, it’s a terrible thing to experience and I hope you are able to find a cause xx

Hi @Che90, I'm so sorry you've had such a horrible time. I've recently gone through my fifth early loss. We saw a miscarriage specialist in October who tested for a lot of things and found an MTHFR mutation, a blood clotting issue and positive ANAs. These were all treated for my frozen embryo transfer in December (we've been doing IVF) but sadly it still didn't work. I'm now waiting to have a hysteroscopy to see if I have a bicornate uterus or endometritis.

Have you seen a recurrent miscarriage specialist? If this pregnancy doesn't come through (I have everything crossed for you that it does) then that might be a good next step x

Currently only 5 weeks, trying not to work myself up. Spoke to the gynaecologists last week and they advised they are not sure if one of my Fallopian tubes are blocked so I need to repeat my HSG, hopefully I won’t need to do that. We haven’t seen a recurrent miscarriage specialist as of yet, I’m guessing it will be the next steps if we have to have another HSG. How did you manage to get in contact with the miscarriage specialist? Was you referred by gynaecology? It’s so nice to be able to speak to people as the fertility appointments are so far apart and sometimes you don’t really feel like your getting anywhere! I’m definitely going to have a look into the things you have mentioned thank you xx
