Help - missed miscarriage at 12weeks - looking for private procedure

Hi all,

I can’t believe I’m back in this situation, 3rd missed miscarriage confirmed at a private scan last night. Should have been 13 +weeks, baby measuring 12+3 no heartbeat after everything was perfect last week. Being seen by EPU today for a scan. I’ve had two Mc already naturally and I cannot face a third one, the hospital normally do their procedures on a Friday and it’s a bank holiday so there will be nothing until earliest next Friday. I am desperate for surgical procedure ASAP but I’ve been calling local private hospitals and they are closed for Christmas/booked up until mid January. Does anyone have any advice? Or know anywhere that is open In London/Surrey area? I’m really desperate to get this sorted out ASAP. Thanks

@whatsgoingon22 I'm so so sorry to hear of your loss at 12 weeks. Just horrific and I have no words. Sending huge hugs to you. I had my fifth miscarriage on Christmas Eve (at seven weeks) and I, like you, couldn't face going through another natural miscarriage. I wanted an ERPC ASAP - just needed for the whole thing to be over. The only private hospital I found who could do the procedure over Christmas was The Portland Hospital in central London. It was super expensive (around £4K) and we were lucky to get it covered under my DH's private medical insurance through work. If money isn't an issue and you don't want to wait for an NHS slot, I'd really recommend them. Great care and a very understanding consultant, who promised me she would be as careful as possible (as I've had previous complications through D&Cs/ERPCs). Good luck xx

@Everhopeful35 So grateful to have stumbled upon this thread. After seeing a strong heartbeat at 7 weeks sadly at our 9 week private scan on Thursday we were told the baby had died and a missed miscarriage diagnosed. Told the baby had likely died at 7w5days. The last few days have been a complete blur, terrified to leave the house incase I start bleeding and just feel so trapped and broken. I've got an appointment this morning at the EPU at 11.40 for a scan to confirm and then discuss options. I know 100% I want a surgically managed miscarriage under full anaesthetic but terrified I'll be made to wait weeks, just wondering how long it took anyone else to get surgery? I think if it's any longer than a few days I'd want to try and go privately, just can't take anymore :( Do you think the Portland Hospital would be able to do it in a few days?

@tamsin424 I'm so so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Seeing a strong heartbeat and thinking all is fine, and then having the rug pulled from under you, is just devastating. I hope you're looking after yourself. My ERPC was organised very quickly - as long as the heartbeat has stopped, they will get you the first available surgery spot. I went in for a scan and they booked my surgery for the next morning. Equally, if money is tight, I've always found it quick to get a procedure on the NHS (I've had five miscarriages, so sadly I'm a bit of an old hat with this). I've only ever had to wait a few days. Let me know how you're getting on. xx
