2 MCs in a row - what next? Should I try IVF?

Hello,
Long time lurker, but first time poster...

I'm just having my 2nd consecutive MC at 7 weeks - the pregnancy can't be located and I’m bleeding enough now to know its obviously not viable.
I had a MC at the end of May this year (8 weeks - blighted ovum) and also had a chemical at the start of Jan.
I already have a DS who is 3 and a half (and who I’m incredibly grateful for!) - he was conceived easily at 37. However I’ve just turned 41, so age is obviously a big factor here.
Had the usual tests done and AMH came back OK for my age, and have been taking supplements via It Starts With The Egg etc.

Honestly struggling to work out what would be best to do next - just keep on trying and trying and wait for the ‘golden egg’ that might never come, start looking into IVF? Or recurrent miscarriage treatment like Dr Sehata?

Grateful for any advice! Thank you x

Hi @Pandastix Firstly, I'm so sorry about your miscarriage.

In terms of my background, I am pregnant and just turned 41 with my first baby. Almost due and praying everything will be good!

I had a MMC about a year before I got pregnant. After a few months, when I didn't get pregnancy, because of my age, I had IVF booked in. Literally, the day I was supposed to start IVF, I found out I was pregnant!

So my thoughts would be to do a few things in parallel:-

  • Consider starting the IVF process as it will require time for appointments etc and get a date you are comfortable with to start the IVF if all else doesn't work out. As you have a child already, I presume you will have to pay for this, so you will have a choice from when you want to begin. If you have a date planned, then I found that takes the pressure off :-).

*I would also get any investigations you can have via NHS for miscarriage. I think with your age, they may investigate at this point, rather than wait for 3

*Third thing, I would continue what your are doing in taking supplements. I took ubiquinol and also had acupuncture if that helps.

Finally, again I'm so sorry for your miscarriage and wish you all the luck in the world xxx

Thanks so much @parks11 and huge congrats!

All your advice makes sense - thank you - its actually great to see it all listed out in black and white. I initially wanted to avoid the IVF route as much as poss so have been having regular acupuncture and reflexology...but clearly there's something going on with my geriatric eggs and they need some help...

Huge thanks again and best of luck with your imminent arrival - v. exciting! xx
