Heavy bleed but HCG rising. Handhold needed!

I am fairly sure I have been miscarrying at 6 weeks pg (first pg) because I have been bleeding heavily with clots for the past week. Referred for an early scan at EPU on Thursday, scan and HCG levels inconclusive. More HCG bloods yesterday showed a rise (but not doubling). I’m back to the EPU for another scan tomorrow afternoon and I just want to know what’s going on. Also now getting worried about the possibility of this being an ectopic and what that might entail. I know I just have to wait this out but any reassurance/similar experiences gratefully received! It sounds awful but I know it’s going to end in MC and I would just like it confirmed so I can start to move on.

So sorry you’re having to go through this 💙

My experience with bleeding with clots and slow HCG rise was an ectopic. Not saying yours will be, but it is a possibility. As you’re now 6 weeks a scan should be able to tell you what’s going on.

Best of luck for today xx

Thank you for your lovely reply. Unfortunately it looks like an ectopic so I’ve got one more chance for my bloods to go down and if not they’re hauling me in for an injection...! Joys!

Oh no @Kate105 I’m so sorry 💙

I had the injection at 5+4 - took 2 weeks for my HCG to go down to negative. Felt like shit the first 4 days or so after but then started feeling a bit more human after that. If you have any questions just message me ☺️ Look after yourself xx

Thank you @MrsB2019x did you have to take much time off work? I’m a teacher so literally just back to work so trying to suppress the guilt of having to take time off so early in the term 🙈

@Kate105 They signed me off for 2 weeks, then I took an extra week after that to try and process the emotional side of it. I found that I was so focused on feeling physically better that the emotional stuff came much later, and didn’t feel ready to return to work after 2 weeks. I was ready by 3 weeks though.

I’m sure your kids will be fine in the meantime, and it keeps supply teachers in a job 😜

Just wanted to update this because it’s always annoying to come across a thread and not find out the end of the story!

I had the ectopic diagnosis confirmed on Thurs 10th and had the methotrexate injection that day. Bloods on days 4 and 7 both showed a significant rise, so I was offered a second injection or surgery. Decided to have the surgery because the HCG levels were still rising quickly. Had keyhole surgery on Thurs 14th to remove the right tube, which turned out to be the right decision because the surgeon told me afterwards that the tube was just starting to rupture when they got to it. One night in hospital, followed by another 2 weeks off work.

Now due to go back to work next week and feeling much better about the whole thing. I’m sure that the full emotional response is yet to come, but I now feel much better physically after a few very sore days. I’m not allowed to TTC for 3 months, and then I think we will try again. It’s very daunting to think about it but I know we’ll get there eventually. Surely we’re due some good luck after all this!

Sending lots of love to anyone who finds this thread after frantic googling for answers, as I did when I was in the early stages. Hopefully your diagnosis is less serious than mine, but if it is, please know that you will be ok and you will come out the other side. X
