An introduction to this thread. It has been running for many years and has proved a saviour for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover immune issues, NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

@Whyisthistakingsolong I'm so sorry your still waiting and going through this trauma. I had an MVA in June and it took almost 6 weeks for my period to return. That's the longest I've had to wait, the 3 mc's before that I had periods within 2-4 weeks. I hope the procedure goes as well as can be and take it easy afterwards with lots of comfort food and good movies to watch while you're resting xx

HoldingOn2Hope · 30/09/2020 12:03

@Wishing5tar sorry I've only just seen your msg. I hope the injections aren't too bad for you. I am terrified of needles and usually faint at blood tests so I don't know how I've done these injections - I don't really have any tips apart from I try and relax beforehand and I count to 5 once all the fluid has gone in to makesure it's all done. I know some ladies have said they put an ice pack on the area for a minute or so to help with the sting but I don't bother. Xx

Everhopeful35 · 30/09/2020 12:26

@Whyisthistakingsolong I'm so sorry to hear how long and traumatic this miscarriage has been for you. My bleeding was over quickly last time, although I did t get a negative pregnancy test for nearly two months. It's so cruel that you're only pregnant for a few weeks but it takes so long to recover. I hope the MVA helps you to finally be able to move on.

Quick update from me: I finished IVF last week - currently waiting on final embryo count tomorrow (day 6) but we have two high grade ones already ready for PGS testing, which is good. I took my first Humira injection today. MY GOD it hurt. Wasn't expecting that! And I iced the area. Just hoping I don't have any side effects.

NICK7nick7 · 01/10/2020 09:30

@Whyisthistakingsolong so sorry for your loss and that the process is taking so long for you. I had an MVA with my last miscarriage and my period came approx. 4 weeks after.

Has anyone ever had this happened as not sure what it means....I’ve been testing ovulation with clearblue digital (purple), I’ve had 4 days of high fertility (flashing smiley) so was expecting solid smiley today but it came back negative? Not sure therefore if I’ve ovulated/when to start my meds/what this means? Thank you 😊

KtAgs · 01/10/2020 09:59

Hi @NICK7nick7, I've not had that but I think if you're negative now, you can probably start taking your meds. Fwiw - I started temping as well as using my clear blue digital monitor to be absolutely sure as I had other signs i was still fertile (EWCM etc) If you're not 100% you can always wait one more day to start them. I think its more important you wait until you've definitely ovulated as it can mess things up a bit. Xx

KtAgs · 01/10/2020 13:28

Phew. Just back from a scan at Mr S' clinic. Heartbeat seen and measuring 7w1d. Back home and I think I might pass out from all the stress now. X

NICK7nick7 · 01/10/2020 13:56

@KtAgs amazing news! Congratulations!

HoldingOn2Hope · 01/10/2020 15:03

@KtAgs Awww congrats ☺️ wishing you a smooth pregnancy xx

Jellystar23 · 01/10/2020 17:26

@KtAgs wonderful news. So lovely to have some good news for a change xx

LRL12 · 01/10/2020 18:10

That’s great news @KtAgs was this your 6wk scan? I’m due mine next week, x

LookingforAnswers86 · 01/10/2020 19:21

@KtAgs Brilliant news! I was wondering how you were getting on :)

Lalaifa · 01/10/2020 19:29

Hello everyone, just wanted to say hello and catch up a little. I've just passed my ovulation and I am going for intralipids tomorrow, so after tomorrow officially in the first 2ww after treatment with Dr S started. Anyone also in their 2ww soon?

@KtAgs that's wonderful news that you have seen the heartbeat, I am very happy for you! Congratulations! Hopefully the reassurance wont turn into anxiety any time soon.

@Whyisthistakingsolong I am so sorry you are still waiting to get fully back to normal. Have you seen doctor S already?

@Everhopeful35 I wish you all the luck with the pgs testing. When do you think embryo transfer will happen?

@LRL12 good luck with your scan next week. It must be nerve wracking.

NICK7nick7 · 01/10/2020 20:50

Hi @Lalaifa good luck for the 2WW!

I think I’m about to go into the 2WW also although this month has been a bit weird. I had 4 days of flashing smiley ovulation tests but then this morning it was negative when I was expecting it to be a solid smiley. I retested this evening just in case and it was a flashing smiley so hoping tomorrow is solid smiley so I know when to start my meds which I have to take from ovulation, otherwise I’m not sure when to start. If I’m not pregnant this month then definitely going to take @KtAgs advice and start temping. Really hoping to be pregnant this month as coronavirus increase is making me nervous they might ask me to stop trying trying because of the steroids I have to take for natural killer cells and hyperemesis, and as it would’ve been the due date for my most recent loss beginning of November which would make it a little easier.

mezgaski · 01/10/2020 21:54

@KtAgs I’ve just popped back on & saw your news - fantastic xx

Hi to everyone else xx

Everhopeful35 · 02/10/2020 09:00

@KtAgs Fantastic news on your scan! I'm keeping everything crossed for you?

@Lalaifa We're not sure yet about the embryo transfer. We first need to see whether any of them make it through the PGS testing, then I need to see how I react to Humira. I have this feeling I'll be in the 5% who need to repeat the course because their levels go up. I seem to always be in the small percentage. On the other hand, if Humira works first time and we get a normal embryo, we could transfer next month. I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard.

Everhopeful35 · 02/10/2020 09:01

@Lalaifa P.S. meant to say, good luck in the 2WW!!

Whyisthistakingsolong · 02/10/2020 12:35

Hello. Thanks for well wishes @Lalaifa @NICK7nick7 @HoldingOn2Hope @Everhopeful35. Just back from MVA, I found it very painful and draining. Glad it's over and looked like a success.

Congrats to @KtAgs have you seen a hb before? Very promising. Smile

Good luck on your 2 ww @Lalaifa. Intralipids at ovulation.. Sounds expensive! Is this bc Mr S doesn't want to prescribe steroids bc of covid?

I have my results from first blood with him on Thurs.. Quite anxious as to what will be uncovered...

KtAgs · 02/10/2020 13:11

@Whyisthistakingsolong - thank you. I've seen a heartbeat beat in all my pregnancies so whilst its really promising, I'm still a bit worried. The next scan in two weeks will be a biggie. I hope you recover quickly and I'm pleased it's over.

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. I really appreciate it. I'm sorry its still really rough for some of us.

Take care all. Xx

Lalaifa · 02/10/2020 13:26

@Whyisthistakingsolong yes, that's it, we are not taking steroids but hydroxy plus ovulation intralipids instead. Hopefully we'll conceive soon because, you are right, it is very expensive!

LookingforAnswers86 · 03/10/2020 11:35

@Whyisthistakingsolong I hope you have a speedy recovery from the MVA. Sounds like a draining few weeks. I had an ERPC 11 days ago and the spotting has just stopped now. It's not fun :(

Good luck to all on TWW.

@Everhopeful35 I hope you get good news from the PGS testing and the humira works first time x

VenusStarr · 03/10/2020 20:23

Hi everyone, just popping on to say I had medical management on Thursday - after a stressful time at the hospital (I changed to a different one and my old one hadn't sent my scans over). I was shocked to pass the pregnancy later that evening, compared to my natural losses it was relatively smooth and pain free. I'd actually been worried it wasn't going to work as I just had constant cramping whereas I'd contracted in both my natural losses. I did manage to preserve them and took them to hospital the next day. I saw my Tommy's Midwife and she checked them over and said she felt it was complete, so they've been sent for testing. I'm hardly bleeding nos, which is a bit worrying. I can't remember if I said before, but my husband and I have had blood karyotyping done a couple of weeks ago too, so we're waiting for two sets of results, which will probably be Christmas time. I think I need a break for a bit before we think of next steps. I've not really processed this yet. My dh was with me when I passed this pregnancy and I'll never forget his face 😔 it broke my heart. He's trying to be strong for me but he's broken down a couple of times 💔 I feel relieved that I have done all I can now and just hope there is enough for the hospital to test and hopefully we're a step closer to answers.

Im waiting got my negative and then I can get my recurrent bloods redone too.

I hope every one is doing OK xx

Wishing5tar · 03/10/2020 23:31

@VenusStarr sending you lots of love! I was tearing up reading your post so can’t imagine how difficult this must have been for you and your husband 💔 like you said, you’ve done all you can now. Rest up and look after yourself xx

@KtAgs gently congratulations 💕 crossing my fingers and toes for you for your next scan in 2 weeks.

@HoldingOn2Hope this evening was my last Gonal-F injection. They were okay, some stung a bit and felt sore afterwards. I got my husband to inject me as whilst it didn’t hurt the needle going in, it was just the thought of doing it myself 🙈 bless him, he made sure we were on time each evening and it was nice for him to feel a bit more involved in this crazy journey we are on ☺️ Fingers crossed it actually does something 🤞🏽

I’ve had my initial telephone consultation through to kick start the IVF process on the NHS for later this month & I’m just tracking signs of ovulation before I book a last minute follicle scan (as per Dr S’s request) this month. Not a lot else happening with me, still throwing myself into decorating our house to keep busy and sane whilst WFH.

I hope everyone else is okay? Baby dust xxx

HoldingOn2Hope · 06/10/2020 11:42

I seem to have a UTI 🙄 I'm on cyclogest as I am most months. Not had a uti in years. Any recommendations? I've emailed the nurses but I could be waiting all week. Or should I just pop to the pharmacy?

Wireless77 · 06/10/2020 12:03

@HoldingOn2Hope, I'm also struggling with UTIs in the last couple of months. Usually not prone to them, so been wondering if the long-term treatment trying to supress my immune system has anything to do with it... I would recommend that you call your GP and insist on an urine culture to be done. You need to make sure they'll give you the right antibiotic. Once you've done the sample, they should start you on one of the usual narrow spectrum ones anyway, but the culture will then confirm if it was the right one (they also test the sensitivity of the found bacteria to specific antibiotics). Insist that you are TTC and in fact may be pregnant, so they cannot refuse. Another option is to order an online urine culture test, if you google, there are a few options. Some also provide an option of getting a prescription from their partner doc. Your GP really should see you today. Try and call the Nurses, you might hear back sooner. Drink a lot, use a hot water bottle and get some good rest.

HoldingOn2Hope · 07/10/2020 11:57

@Wireless77 thank you for all that info. I managed to get into a walk in centre today and saw a really helpful nurse who said it doesn't seem like an infection but I have raised proteins and white cells but not nitrates. So she's giving me a prescription incase I need antibiotics but told me to wait as wants to send sample off. She's also had to do a preg test which of course was negative 😑 but I am only a couple of dpo. She felt awful doing it but said to be safe she would rather do it.
Hope everyone is doing well x
