How long until miscarriage?!

I know this is a how long is a piece of string question really! I've been going for weekly scans for the last few weeks - first one sac only, second one fetal pole and yolk sac but too small, third one too small and no heartbeat, fourth one the same as third. I should be 10 weeks, haven't had any pain and only a tiny

(sent too soon!) bit of brown blood. It looks like it stopped growing at around 6+5. Has anyone got any experience of how long from brown blood to miscarriage? I'm due to go back in a few days if nothing happens, but I'd really like to avoid a d&c! Thanks!

So sorry that you're going through this. I can only tell you my experience as obviously every body is different. I had a miscarriage at 10weeks but measured 6+4 so very similar to you. I had spotting and brown blood for a week and then it started properly. If you don't want a D&C, you don't have to. Everything is your choice. Xx

So sorry for you. Heartbreaking.

I had a missed miscarriage and found out at 12 weeks. Nothing happened and the hospital didn't offer me treatment or tell me what to expect and for some reason I didn't ask - not great frame of mind.

10 days still nothing.

My husband decided to take me and the kids away for the weekend to try to cheer us up as a surprise. I didn't feel like going but just went.

Not to scare you just for information.

3 hour car drive and when I arrived I was soaked through with blood. I went to the hotel expecting this to be it for an hour and the light flow. Nope very heavy from 2pm til midnight and I collapsed with blood loss and ended up in hospital - ambulance etc. Had couple of pints of blood. Was in 4 days.

Had no idea it would be so heavy that I had to sit in bath all day - maternity pads weren't thick enough.

Stay safe and take care of yourself

Took three weeks waiting for me. Sorry. Take good care of yourself.

It was 7-10 days for me, I also had to go hospital as the bleeding was extremely heavy and painful. Rest as much as you can x

I started with brown spotting on a Friday and fully mid aureoles the following Friday when I would have been 12 weeks so a week in total - in between the off red bleeding and small clot but not much

For me it took about two weeks too, the worst was over in the matter of a few hours, probably because I had been bleeding for two weeks already!

Don't be scared OP. Listen to your body if you decide to MC naturally. If it get's bad, you can go to the hospital.

Personally I'd choose natural again. Hopefully won't have to!

Sorry for your loss OP! X

Thank you SO much for all your lovely messages - we've been trying for 2 years (I've only had 2 natural periods in those 2 years!) so it felt like a bit of a miracle to get pregnant. I'm living in the Middle East and it's much more medical heavy here (makes me realise how wonderful the NHS is!) - the doctor said I shouldn't leave it much longer than a week because it could get stuck and be hard to remove?!

In Germany it's the same, they don't even offer natural and medicated route there. It's been criticised recently that women aren't given more options to manage the miscarriage, in Germany at least.

It's never easy to make a choice amongst options you wish you didn't have to make a choice between anyway.

It's a horrible situation to be in OP, I know how you feel!

If you feel you can emotionally handle waiting a little longer, then why don't you. Many women naturally miscarry before they're booked in for surgical management too.
