D and C - 4th lost baby

Hi all

I’ve just lost my 4th baby in the space of two years. First miscarriage at 8 weeks, baby boy with pateus syndrome which we lost at 14 weeks and a spontaneous miscarriage at 14 weeks, so I’m all too familiar with the symptoms and recovery of a miscarriage.

Yesterday I went for a scan to be told my baby’s heart had stopped beating at 9 weeks. I had a d and c today, which I’ve had with both babies we lost at 14 weeks, and was advised the bleeding shouldn’t be too heavy. I’m bleeding incredibly heavy, and the pain and bleeding is far worse than when I’ve had the procedure twice before.

I would be grateful for your experiences, and I am also so sorry for those that have commented back and have experienced it. My heart is truly broken.

Thank you

I’m sorry for your losses, you really have been through the mill.

The bleeding you are having seems extreme. I had an EROC/D&C on Monday. I had no pain afterwards and was advised the bleeding should be like a light period. I have had no need for a pad since Tuesday. Though in my experience I had taken the tablets the week before so perhaps I didn’t have a lot of bleeding to do.

Still, could you call the gynae ward and off the hospital where you had your surgery done and all their advice? I was told if I was filling a pad in an hour then I needed to call them.

If you're having to change a pad more than hourly you need to seek urgent medical attention (sorry - I know this won't be what you feel like doing right now).

I am so very sorry for your losses. I had three MC. I had a d&c with the third loss at 12 weeks. I don't remember bleeding being an issue.

The only ray of light I can give is that a friend with 2 healthy boys had 4 losses before having them. Goiing through a loss myself at the moment. The notes I got seem to suggest hevy bleeding is not uncommon. But worth getting medical advice.
