Does your local Health Authority still perform D&Cs?

I had 3 miscarriages between DD and DS and had D&Cs each time.

13 years later I have moved regions and I had a surprise miscarriage last Monday (9 October) - I thought I was menopausal, clearly not.

My GP didn’t warn me that they “don’t do D&Cs” any more. I went to the EPU today for a scan and blood test. They found matter still inside the womb and told me to bleed it out over the next 2-5 weeks.

Is this normal practice now? I’ve had a quick search and someone has posted that they had a D&C about a week ago.

Is this my Health Authority being tight fisted and cost cutting? I am in the NW Anglia region.

TBH I don’t feel that great and I have no energy at all.

Thanks.

I hadn't heard that and as an ex gynae nurse it sounds appalling to me. Rest as much as you can, and ring the EPAU again if your bleeding is very heavy, or if you start running a temperature.
I'm sorry for your loss Thanks

Thank you Beeblebrox (is that a Zaphod reference?!😁)

I was very sick in the night so I have spent the entire day in bed. Fortunately DH is working from home today so he can do the school run.

Anyone else?

I recently had a missed miscarriage and opted for an ERPC which I believe is the same or very similar to a D&C.

I'm sorry for your loss xx

Thank you - I might ask a doctfor friend of mi e who works in a different region what their protocol is.

I'm sorry for your loss, OP. I have friends in the Anglia region who've been told the same. One of them paid to go private, I think? And another in London who did have D&C. So I think this might be different depending where you live. I don't agree with the differences in approach, btw(!)

Well, now I am I hospital on antibiotics and taking up a bed Hmm false economy as my mum would say!

Someone having retained products of conception is a big infection risk. How shoddy of them!
