Hi all. New to this. Was just wondering if anyone had been through the same thing as i am completely baffled!. I took the morning after pill after unprotected sex. I was late coming on my next due period so took a pregnancy test. It was positive. 3 days later i had some bleeding and cramps so went to the epu. They couldnt find any sign of pregnancy and tested my hcg levels which were low so they assumed it was a misscarriage and left me. I didnt feel like i had bled enough for a misscarriage and didnt have any clots at all!. A week later i felt quite dizzy and ill so took another pregnancy test and the lines seemed alot stronger. Was reffered back to epu by gp. Long story short this has been going on for 4 weeks. Ive had 5 scans and loads of bloods. My hcg levels have never dropped but there not doubling every 48 hours as they should. Ive been told there is nothing i can do but wait and see what happens basically. Im so anxious all the time. Anyone else been through anything like this? Advice please?

Hiya what were your hcg levels? And are they increasing or just staying the same?
I've had 2 ectopic pregnancies - the first was diagnosed as a PUL until it became large enough to see on the scans in my tube

They should offer you methotrexate If it doesn't look like your body is going to resolve this itself - it's a drug also used to treat cancer amongst other things so usually only available at the bigger hospitals. It works by stopping cell division

I had the exact same thing a few years ago. I had pregnancy of unknown location. I was bleeding so I went to EPAU and they couldn't see anything on the ultrasound. They tested my HCG levels continuously which was rising then dropping, rising and dropping again for about 2 months until my levels finally went to 0. They concluded that it was an ectopic pregnancy "managing" itself without any need for treatment (I had a previous ectopic pregnancy, hence why I had to stay under EPAU until they knew for sure what the problem was).

Hey.. so my levels have never dropped theyve always got higher think theyve gone up to 800 now but my testosterone has gone up and down. I literally feel so unwell in myself odd pains here and there and im bleeding on and off. They have discussed methotrexate but they do not do it at this hospital so i would be sent somewhere else. But theyve said they think the pregnancy is small because they cant see it they just want to try and manage it for now to see if it will dissolve by itself. I feel like im really suffering hormonally tho having terrible headaches. Bad mood swings. Just want it over. Sorry to hear what you went through also x

Even if they don't do it at the hospital you're at, you absolutely should get a second opinion elsewhere. My levels wasn't high as yours they was only around 50-100, that why they left it to dissolve by itself as levels was so low that ectopic pregnancy rupture would be extremely unlikely.

It could be a miscarriage but as your hcg levels are rising slowly, it may POSSIBLY indicate an ectopic pregnancy which is too small for them to see as your hcg has to be around 1500 for them to see anything on the scan. It can still rupture and cause problems at 800.

Please consider getting a second opinion to receive the methotrexate! There's a higher chance of it working the lower your levels are and then you can go back to your local hospital and be kept under strict observation to make sure you are ok in case any emergencies happen.

I had no symptoms whatsoever except bleeding, bleeding and more bleeding! Plus stress, upset and loads of anxiety which is to be expected. That's all I had for 2 months with my hcg going up and down like a yo yo. It's very very frustrating but don't let them fob you off.

Slow rising hcg has to be investigated thoroughly, there's no way a viable pregnancy can happen with slow rising hcg so there's no point them leaving it to "manage" itself. Sending lots of hugs your way! I really feel for you and I hope all of this is over for you to give you time to heal. Xx

I would request methotrexate sooner rather than later - your hcg is rising not falling to doesn't look like your body will resolve itself - you are at risk of rupture at any time until your level reaches 0

Definitely second what @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted - speak to them and get the methotrexate organised. I don't understand why they don't do it at the hospital you're currently at? Shock keep us all updated OP xx
